I feed everyone on my property. Birds, squirrels, the random wild deer, crows, even the random wil turkey that shows up at the house. I have always wanted to get a little "diner" for the squirrels so I jumped at getting this for a Vine product review. Now imagine my surprise when I open the box and discover that my squirrel diner will require construction work!
PROS
* SUPER easy to put together!! and only took a couple of minutes!!
* good quality wood without being super heavy
* includes a lot of screws so you wont have a problem needing any.
* the screw holes actually line up!
* instructions are clear, but you don't really need them
* plexi glass actually fits properly and securely
* weather treated, but I will be putting on an exterior coat myself before mounting,
* really this can be mounted to a tree or a railing. I would say the best would be to mount a 2x4 piece to a tree and then use brackets to secure the diner to that rather than mounting it directly to the tree.
* you do not even need a drill, you can just use a screw driver. Yes, it will take a little longer but you can still do it without power tools.
CONS
* I do not like the screws you are to put on the roof for the corn and/or carrots. It seems rather dangerous to have the sharp and pointy ends of screws there. I am not going to install that. Instead I will be putting in metal pegs that are not sharp or dangerous.
* somewhat small - at least for my squirrels that are, well, let's say well fed!
This is the cutes Squirrel Diner ever!! Despite the fact it is a little small I would still HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone who is an animal lover like me and wasn't something that is just for the squirels!

My 10 y/o grandson had a great time assembling this with some guidance from from his grandpa. And grandpa, who is himself a skilled carpenter, was impressed with the overall kit. It is very well designed and all the pieces fit together seamlessly. Not so sure about the screws projecting from the roof. They are for attaching corn cobs. We left them off because they seem a bit hazardous without the cobs on them. But in toto, this is a nice squirrel feeder. And makes for a terrific father/son activity.

The instructions called for a drill or a screwdriver. It went together easily with a screwdriver. I couldn't understand why they wanted me to put 2 long screws straight up until I went online to read about it. It is so that you can attach fruit or cobs of corn. Turned out nice.
