The TPA3255 Class D Power Amp (integrated Circuit) from Texas Instruments is a prominent and highly regarded amplifier in the audio market. Known for its exceptional performance and versatility, this amplifier has gained widespread recognition and is a favorite among audio enthusiasts and audiophiles.

One of the standout features of the TPA3255 is its remarkable power delivery. With an output power of up to 315-W stereo, 600-W mono IF you use the highest power supply possible. The AIYIMA A07 MAX 2 is configured to work with power from 24V5A to 48V10A. On the Texas Instruments website it is listed as operational under 18- to 53.5-V where Amps are not clear. But the higher the amps the more power you will have.

Speaking of power it is not clear if the advertised power is peak power of RMS. I find it quite hard to believe it would be RMS power on such a small package so your actual power will be much less than the advertised power. But if you are not an engineer 100w is enough to generate 120db, which is the loudness of a jet engine. So while people like to purchase big watts, in reality you don't need more than 15W to 25W to listen to REALLY LOUD music. Moreover, the closer you are to your speakers the louder it will be, consequently you will need less power to drive it loud..

The amplifier's Class D design is known for best use in Subwoofers, because it does have a fall off in high frequency. This one is pretty darn flat to 5khz and has a decline of one db over 5k. The provided graph goes up to 20khz so above this it should decline quite fast. Now for a sub $100 amplifier this is beyond amazing! I've seen $1000s of dollars amplifiers that do not come even close to this one.

The quality of the audio you will have is VERY dependent on the quality of the audio you are feeding (input) and the speakers. Don't think you will have audiophile sound quality by just adding a good amplifier. Don't get me wrong, this amplifier is exceptional but if your input is bad or you have bad speakers the amplifier will not make a difference.

The provided power source is 36V 6A Which will give you in MONOBridged - 190W in 4 ohms or 118 in 8 ohms. I can't really tell how much power my sub is getting but it definitely does not sound like 118w. Again this is most likely peak power and not true RMS but still I feel that there is not much power driving the sub. AND the sub has not been broken in, AND the cabinet is sealed, AND the crossover may be the culprit, AND I may have put too much filling in the box, AND the box may not be fully sealed, AND as I said one million other possible reasons.

There are one million reasons why this may be the case as this is a brand new Sub built I did and don't really have anything to compare to. But I have the A07 turned up all the way and I can't get the sub to distort. So more investigation will follow.

I'm running this as a subwoofer amplifier and it sounds great. The input is the line out from my computer so not super audiophile but decent enough to make it worth it. I did not purchased a high quality subwoofer but I just need a little kick in the 150hz and below so for me the whole price was about $150 for a 10 inch subwoofer, and the quality is way, way better than any $150 subwoofer you may find. I doubt you will get a 10 inch subwoofer for this price and for that quality.

Overall very happy with the build I can't hear NOTHING when I'm not driving the sub. Usually you hear a hum or static, this one NOTHING so amazing!

New toy I'll most certainly enjoy fully for years to come.
Exceptional buy.
Unbelievable sound - especially with Op Amp upgrades
Bernd W. Herrmann✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 19, 2023
I never thought I'd say this, but some of these newly released class D amps (that allow for Op Amp interchangeability), are now approaching audiophile class AB amp sound reproduction.

I've been giving many of these Asian-made class D amps a try over the past few years. With the likes of the Aiyima A07, A07 Pro, and now A07 Maxx - along with the likes of the Fosi Audio BT20A Pro, V3, and recently, the ZA3, audio performance levels have risen dramatically - at a pace much faster than previously anticipated.

Now right off the mark, in my opinion, this A07 Maxx bests the V3 in the audio department, however, it pales slightly in the appearance arena (I prefer the subdued look of the V3 and ZA3). Sound-wise, the A07 Maxx punches far above it's price-point, so much so that it has dethroned my Cambridge AX25 and AX35 class AB power amps. With my Op Amp upgrades - installing the much heralded Sparkos Labs SS3602 discrete versions - the A07 Maxx now has approached class AB audio levels, and that's not an exaggeration on my part.

The sound is dynamic, with a wide and deep sound-stage. Highs such as can be found with stringed instruments in a full symphony orchestra, come through with a silky sheen, and the bass is both dynamic and palpable. I virtually get lost in the music - music being characterized by being highly immersive and musical. Every once in awhile, I have to remind myself that I'm listening to a diminutive little box of an amp.

So do I recommend the A07 Maxx - heck yes, I do - with a full 5 stars. Times are a changin' as they say in the audio world. No longer does one have to spend $500 - $1000+ or so to get a good amplifier. The likes of Aiyima and Fosi Audio are turning heads for less than $100 USD, and that's a good thing.

I listened to this amp through the likes of the KEF Q150/Q350 bookshelf speakers, along with the Wharfedale D320 bookshelf models. DAC's used were the iFi ZenDac V2, various Schiit DAC's and Headamps, Topping D10S, and the JDS Labs Atom DAC X. All music came through with a pleasant sense of musicality, great definition, and separation of instruments (and delineating the sound-stage properly).

Your mileage may vary of course.
The best A07. The Max.

I'm loving this amplifier. The clearest, cleanest sounding A07 of them all. I like the simple interface, a knob. I'd thought I'd miss the tone controls of the Pro, it's not an issue at all.
The A07 Max has been driving my JBL 580s with ease at the 12 o'clock position.
Good full bass. Very pleasing!
36v is plenty enough power. That vented case might interest me in a 48v psu.
Great speaker binding posts.
A fantastic amp!
A07 improvement + excellent customer service

I tried the prior A07 model and it didn't have enough power to keep up with my outdoor speakers (Polk 8" in-ceiling). I contacted the seller and they recommended a stronger power supply, so I tried that and unfortunately it didn't work. They promptly refunded my purchase, even though it was well after the return deadline with Amazon, and they only asked that I try this new version of the A07 when it was released. I purchased the new version last month, and after about a month of consistent usage it is still working great. I strongly recommend the amp for a zone 2 setup like mine, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another product from them due to the amazing customer service they provided. Thank you so much for the great communication and follow up! I am now a loyal customer.
