I bought this booster to solve a problem with my Hyundai Bluelink functionality. I am in a remote area with poor cell service. My car has functions such as remote start that rely on a cell connection. I have had trouble with the reliability of Bluelink. I suspected it was due to low cell signals. I installed this booster in my garage and did not make much of an attempt to get the "outdoor" antenna to any sort of optimal location. It is not even outside- just hung on the wall. I placed the booster box and indoor antenna about 20 feet way where I had a convenient outlet. I tested the Bluelink functions several times and it worked every time. I also noted that there was not the usual long delay before the operation started at the car. I am very satisfied. Good value.
Forgot to mention... the orientation of the indoor antenna does seem to affect performance. Try both vertical and horizontal.

On the wrong side of a ridge, we had one bar and dropped calls regularly. Internet via cell tower was unusable. I put the antenna 15' up on the peak of the house and pointed the antenna towards our cell tower, now 3-4 bars all the time. (There are Apps that graphically show you where your cell tower is). Calls are now crystal clear, Internet is quick. It does require some work to mount the antenna and run the coax cable around the house, but it is well worth it. As the amplifier / indoor antenna covers 2500 sq ft, our neighbors are thanking us for increasing their cell signal as well! Has 3-year warranty, so now we will check system longevity. If you need more than the 50-ft coax cable that comes with the system, it is RG174 coax and uses SMA Connectors. Due to attenuation, increase length for only what is needed. (Amazon sells many lengths of RG174 and connectors). The indoor amplifier gets warm so I put vinyl caps in each foot so to raise the amplifier ~1/4", for better air flow. The Antenna mounting kit really needs two U-Clamps, but I made due with the one that comes with it. The Clamp is 2 1/4" small diameter. Enjoy!
