• •SODIUM SILICATE CAN BE USED FOR A VARIETY OF CERAMIC APPLICATIONS: Sodium silicate is commonly used in ceramics as a deflocculant in slip preparation by neutralizing the charges of particles in the slip, allowing for more even suspension and thinning. This is a pure sodium silicate solution and should be mixed with water to a 50/50 solution for most casting bodies
• •USE AS A DISPERSANT: Sodium silicate solutions can be used to disperse (i.e. prevent caking) grout. Our sodium silicate causes clay particles to repel each other and remain in suspension. Please note that over time, the mortar will absorb the solution and deteriorate/corrode
• •USE IT TO TREAT CRACKED SURFACES: If you want a super interesting cracked clay finish, you can apply sodium silicate to your piece immediately after you finish pulling it (before firing). Simply apply it with a brush, allow it to dry, then place your hand on the inside of the piece and unfold the sides
