Finally... a virtually perfect garlic press!
David M✓ Verified Purchase•March 28, 2018
I have long struggled on my quest to get the perfect garlic press. So mundane, but so important. I found one good product decades ago that was cast aluminum solid construction and it worked well. Unfortunately, the rivet holding the handle to the base broke and I was forced to put a bent nail to hold it together. It worked, but it looked pretty pitiful. Models appeared along the way, but could not measure up to this solid purchase.
Along came the Roesle products. I had purchased a peeler that was solid and well constructed. So I opted to finally replace my old press for its version. It also featured a "cleaning" option.
This product is spectacular! It is not only solidly constructed as a stainless steel press, but the pressure I am able to exert on the pressing action is so much better... it has a better mechanical advantage than my treasured older one. Moreover, the cleaning option is simply a movement of the straining part of the press to be available for direct cleaning. So the difficulty removing the leftover fibrous part of the clove is eliminated. The material can be easily rinsed off (or in some cases the material can be easily added to the stew pot if appropriate). The archaic effort to unclog the micro-holes of my old press with a toothpick or needle simply goes away. Any remnants stuck in the holes of the exposed part will reliably wash off in the dishwasher.
Trust me that it is worth the price if you regularly use garlic like we do. No more of the, "Jeez, should I add another clove or two" decision. It is so easy, you make the right choice every time. While I don't go to the extent that some have said about not peeling the clove, I do at least cut off the attachment end of the clove (and then you can leave the paper on the clove) before putting it in the press.
I am a happy Roesle garlic press user!

Excellent garlic press, we have a large selection of amazon top rated garlic presses, and this one edges them all with its double leveraging action. Effortless pressing garlic press that is easy to clean. Ordering a second one just now.
Best press

I've bought a lot of cheap presses through the years . This is one that will be with you for a lifetime nice mechanics all SS engineered in Germany , it is built in China but quality control looks real good. Easy clean too
Best. Garlic. Press. Ever!

I do believe our garlic-loving family has had at least one of every kind of garlic crusher known to man. This one is, hands down, the best. It has a large capacity and the mechanics are such that it is very easy even for someone with arthritis to squeeze. The real beauty is in the cleaning -- it is SO easy! Just flip the handles and the little plate against which the garlic is pressed becomes easily available for cleaning. I'd bought one that was cheaper and which turns out to have sides attached to the plate -- a design that turned out not to be easy to clean. This costs more and it is worth every penny because it it at LEAST twice as good in terms of ease of use.
Well made, in China, though, not Germany

Very solidly built, and an extremely clever design. Heavy weight and stainless steel, nothing to wear off or extrude into your food. Quite comfortable in the hand and extremely easy to use. No worries, as with other designs, about pinching the hands. All handle surfaces are nice and rounded. Cleans like a charm; the extruder plate swings right out for easy access to both sides for water or a basic brush. No tiny corners to trap small pieces. It also has a "camming" action which seems to reduce the force needed to squeeze, so those with either weaker grips or arthritis should have no problems. There was a question about where it was made. When I got mine, I took photos of a couple of items; one being the label that came stuck to it. As of August, 2017, there's no doubt that it ISN'T Germany. See the attached photo - it's definitely China. The other thing that I've noticed; no issues with it new, is whether or not in the future water will get into the handles. See the photos. Right now, it looks like there's some kind of "caulking" in the seams. Just wonder whether or not over time that will break down. Not thrilled with water sitting in a closed space, then near my food. That's a design issue, however, not related to where it was manufactured. All of this FYI. Happy cooking; fresh garlic is SO much better than pre-diced garlic in a jar! Oh - and I paid full price for this; this isn't one of those "they gave it to me by my opinion is unbiased" reviews that seem to be everywhere these days.
