Well, I have used this model of product before and know it is extremely effective and works well. However when I got this order in, and was trying to set the trap, the trigger would not latch correctly. It was then I found that evidently the trap had been dropped at some point and had bent in the corner of the trap so things were not aligning correctly. It could have been dropped anywhere during the shipping. Since I know what an ordeal it is to return a large item like this, I got my pliers and worked on it for about a half hour, and finally got it to set. It still does not seem to latch the door down very good once sprung, but am going to test it tonight. In getting another of these, I feel it would be a better plan to just run to the hardware store or the local sporting goods store for this type of item. Am fixing to purchase a park bench, and am going to buy locally on it, as I feel the same thing could happen with it. Like Amazon for most products, etc, but not going to order this type of product anymore via mail.
This is the best trap we've ever purchased

This is the best trap we've ever purchased. We participate in a TNR (trap, neuter, release) program for feral/homeless cats and need a SAFE, reliable way to catch and transport them to the spay/neuter clinic. This trap is easy to set up, safely triggers the release (so the cat doesn't get injured), is large enough to comfortably transport a large cat and has a side door for easy removal of the animal. It is obvious in the quality and design that the animals best interest was a major part of the conception/construction of this trap. We haven't used it for raccoons or other small animals, but think it would serve in that capacity equally well. It is a little more expensive than similar traps; but WELL WORTH the negligible price difference.

This is an excellent trap and I have purchased several of them

This is an excellent trap and I have purchased several of them. The thing that I like the most is that you can have it all open so that the animals can go in from either side, or you can close one side and make it a one entrance trap. We use this to catch feral cats and have the spayed and neutered and them let them out again. It really works well when you cover it up and use one side so it is not so scary.
Consider the weight of the animal you wish to catch, not just what species it is.

Bought this to catch a groundhog that had been making a buffet out of my garden. Easy enough to set, seems well constructed. I found the trigger plate took too much force to trip with my groundhog, especially with both doors set. it's not a huge groundhog maybe 4-5 lbs. I probably could have gone one size smaller, which likely would've had a lighter trigger plate. I lost bait (cantaloupe chunks) out the trap twice and actually saw the groundhog hanging out in the trap the 2nd time. 3rd try I hung a nectarine from the roof with a piece of wire so the critter would have to mess around right on top of the trigger plate to get it... still lost that bait too. I ended up polishing the trigger hooks with a dremel tool, then bending them to a slightly larger angle and only setting one door. Within 3 hours of setting the altered trap the groundhog was caught.
I believe these are the best live traps around

I believe these are the best live traps around. I have used them for everything from Feral Cats to Groundhogs to raccoons and now Iguanas. The 2 door is recommended because the critter can see that the other end is unobstructed so it seems safer. They can also take rough use either bu me ot bu the agitated critter.
