Good bye jumper cables!
Hayley W.•June 15, 2017
This is going to be a major aggravation saver for one of my vehicles... It tends to sit for a month or so between uses which tends to leave it unable to start. It's quite annoying when I need the thing and wind up having to dig up the jumpers just to get it started.
2 days of charging, and it has finally switched over to maintenance mode. Yeah, I was needing this. XD
Now I just need to order another to put on the car...

I have a truck that now sits outside unused for too long. Even my expensive, heavy duty battery runs out of juice after a couple of weeks. I mounted this to the L-bracket and then placed the bottom of the bracket underneath the battery to secure it. The cord could be a couple of inches longer, but I found a way to keep it poking under the hood. I've used it through a very cold winter and my truck has started right up every time.
BAD charger, BAD company, BAD experience. NOT recommended.

Upon installation, the unit powered on and then... did nothing. I consulted the manual to verify that all was working as designed, and it checked out. Two lights come on for a few moments, and then off... The manual says: "Your unit is working properly" -OK, well the battery is sitting at 11.6 Volts and not charging, so I don't agree. There is no measurable output from the Schumacher Charger. I sent an E-mail to Schumacher, and received an automated reply that I would hear from them within 24 hours. I have had no such luck, and now have a charger that doesn't work and a company that wont communicate.
I have a larger Schumacher charger but wanted one like this, typically called a trickle charger
Amazon Customer•February 14, 2017
This 'maintainer' charger was offered for sale in a British car catalog so I consider their carrying it almost as an endorsement. I have a larger Schumacher charger but wanted one like this, typically called a trickle charger, mounted inside the trunk next to the battery, connected to the terminals so as not to have to drag out the big one all the time. This one is simple to install, except that the battery bolt rings are too big for typical bolts so they had to be replaced with smaller ones. Just plug it in & it keeps the battery charged all the time. Once it has reached full charge, the unit automatically goes into Maintenance mode so it it can be left on for extended periods of time. Perfect for a 50 year old restored car like mine that isn't driven every day.
So happy to have this little trickle charger for my car

This is a great little trickle charger! I work from home and therefore only drive my car once a week and over the past year the battery has slowly died and not gotten enough charge to fill it back up again from my short drives. This fixes that problem. They had a similar charger at the dealership for twice the price! Neither my husband nor I are handy in any way, so we had someone else install it for us, but if you are even a little handy it should be fairly straight forward. We did need to have them add on to the wires because they are pretty short and it had to be installed on the other side of the car because there wasn't really anywhere to install it near my battery, but if you have a spot there, no addition is necessary. Now I just plug it in now and then and it keeps my battery nice and full. Perfect!
