Very sturdy and heavy. I compared this with my friend's 15 dollar one. This one is way heavier and finely made. I don't think it's easy to cut the steel stem very easily. I had to park off street in a high crime area for two years. I never had problems with this club on. I think it's sturdy look just repels thefts away.

After having a Club for about ten years, I figured it was time to get a new one. The key on the previous one would stick as I tried to turn to unlock it. Considering that I always feel like a passerby might think I'M the car thief as I get in my car and take it off, having a key that wouldn't turn could only make things complicated. This version does not require the key to lock it, only to unlock and shorten it. As for the sticky feeling mentioned in other comments, I have not had that experience with the blue one. It has a soft plastic feeling but nothing that feels like residue that sticks or transfers to the hand. As others have said, these work best as deterrents. I always use it when parking at home.
Just know that while it is placed on the seat or floor of the vehicle as you drive, it will rattle with every bump. This may not bother many people if you tend to noisy automobile environments with keys or stuff dangling from rear view mirrors, or passengers running their mouths.

I got the silver one, as I heard the ones with colored coating start to smell. I bought a MasterLock version at Walmart for $20 and was extremely disappointed. It didn't come out long enough to stay secure on my wheel! (2006 Chevy Malibu). This one is durable, lightweight, easy to use, and seems to work as a great deterrent.

I did have to dock them a star, because I filled out the registration, and they mailed it back with a letter stating that New York is no longer the only excluded state for the deductible comprehension payment. Apparently, due to law changes, Hawaii, Texas, & Wisconsin are now excluded. This does seem to be the highest rated steering wheel lock on the market, however.

If you read the instructions you will find it suggests two ways to place it on your steering wheel. I chose the maximum security way: behind your steering wheel, lock facing your gauges. This way it makes it even more difficult to pick the lock or sawing it off. Placing the key in the lock facing away from you is not difficult at all. I sleep better knowing it's on!
