I ordered this because the ice dam could be so thick that ice melt in a panty hose is no match. I threw the whole bundle over the ice dam and was able to create a passage way. So, the product worked.
The downside is that it only lasted that one snow storm. When the next one came the same season, it stopped generating heat and I had to get up to the roof to chip the ice dam away. How can a piece of wire that cost $100 last for less than a month?
I am buying another de-icing cable, just not this particular "Amazon's Choice."

I'm going to go ahead and give this thing 5 stars it's already starting to snow here in Idaho. I bought this thing to get rid of the ice dams that were building up on our roof and so far so good let me just tell you completely happy. The only thing I didn't like about it was the clips that they send with you to clip things down to the shingle roof they don't work worth a damn I had to use you hook Staples and I tapped over the top of the wire to hold it down to the roof. If you do buy this product remember that like I said it doesn't exactly lock onto the shingle like it's supposed to you're going to have to go out and go get some of U hook nails
Great purchase for the north side of our house!

Bought the Easy Heat ADKS-1000 200-Foot Roof Snow De-icing for the north side of our house. We also bought the Farm Innovators Model TC-3 Cold Weather Thermo Cube to turn the roof snow de-icing tape on once the weather reaches a certain temperature.

Works well. This is my second winter with it. I got it after some damage from ice dams over a northeast winter. Didn't notice any real difference in my electric bill even when I left it on around the clock.
Easy Heat was easy

The kit contains all one needs to install the heating element. Plenty of clips for installation and hanging in the gutter.
The product was what I expected although haven't turned it on yet. One definitely needs a putty knife to lift shingles to install the clips otherwise you won't get them installed properly. I used chalk on my shingles to mark the measure for 15" separation, installed all the clips and then hung the wire at one time. My only recommendation is to order more wire, not as measured. I could have used another 20 ft. to run up a valley and a longer length down the downspout.
I would order again now that I've installed them and will let them up year round as the color matches my shingles.
