Great accessory for the Thomas the Train collection
McAmazon•November 27, 2013
My son really like this and it fit well on the Thomas track. It is actually better than other engines because if it is being pulled by Thomas then it is small enough to be like a box car...and does not derail around corners.
JUST WHAT MY GRANDSON WANTED.

It made him very happy and the magnet in the front was unexpected and really made this toy a GREAT addition to his/my Thomas Set. He plays with IT every time he comes over.

Another gift and it was a hit. The sturdy and size makes it great for toddlers. My grandson loves Thomas the train and I can find the special extra pieces always at Amazon.
Colorful, friendly front loader

As far as it's makeup goes, the base (the black part in the photo to which the wheels are attached) is wood, but most/all other parts are plastic. When you press on the cab (the box on the top), the loader on the front moves up and down. It maneuvers as expected on the wooden railway. I also have Alfie, and they go nicely together. Jack seems to be sturdy and durable. He has one magnet on the back, and he can be coupled to another train moving in the same direction or a freight car.
My son is happy with Jack. He is particularly intrigued by all the construction vehicles that are part of the Thomas line -- almost like an entire construction subculture. He plays with Jack while he watches On Site With Thomas, which features the construction vehicles. I wish there were more construction-type accessories that you could buy for the railway itself, but for now, we'll use imagination and improv.

Why aren't they still wood.

These aren't the same wooden trains. They are mainly plastic. As an adult, it takes the fun out of playing with them when they feel so cheap.
