I ordered these binders to keep class notes and materials organized, and the binders are perfect. They are sturdy and stand up to being open and closed several times a day, and they stand up to being stacked with other books and shuffled around inside my bag. My only issue is that they are a little smaller than I expected, and I'm not sure they will be big enough for an entire course-long collection of class notes, handouts, and materials. Next time I will order the 1.5 or 2 inch size, especially for courses that are very material-focused.
The binder mechanism is great, so far- no snags or pinching, and fairly easy to open and shut.
A bonus is that you can slide in paper on both covers and the spine, so you can personalize the binders to match whatever organizing scheme you have going on. I just threw in some patterned paper so I could tell the binders apart and it looks great. Very clean.
Highly recommended, but if you need to organize a lot of paper/notes/materials, definitely get a size bigger than you think you'll need.

As a German I love to keep my documents tidy, but unfortunately the paper formats here prevent me from using my favorite Leitz binders (http://www.amazon.de/dp/B000KJNYB8), which have a much better usability, but that is probably limited to the 2-hole punch system. 1" is not a lot of space, but you get 4 and this allows you to separate your documents e.g. by topic to retrieve it easier. It does not come with a paper label for the back, so I just cut a piece of paper to match the transparent pocket on the back (keep 1/8" of the label out of the pocket in case you want to change later).

I see that they have raised the prices on the babies, and I'm glad I bought them when I did. For around 8 dollars these were a steal! They arrived promptly and nicely packed, I found no dents, dings, or tears. Each ring, and I inspected them, was in place and each touching without the other half of the ring being warped. I usually had that problem with store bought folders, and didn't realize it until days later. Not only that but the ones at the store were disappointingly more expensive, and I didn't want to spend that much especially since I needed one for each of my classes. When I saw these I didn't hesitate to buy it, although the recent markup will have me say otherwise if I ever chose to buy another pack. But! These were just what I needed, basic, sturdy, and a way of organization. What more can you expect from these folders?

I have started to put my embroidery designs in these books and with four of them this is going to make it easier to find. I have had them in a box in folders and wanted to find a way to get to them easier than lugging a box around. I can have this so I can be at the embroidery table and open the book and find what it is I am looking for without the mess of boxes and folders all over the floor and counter. I am going to need to purchase 2 or 3 more sets to complete this. I find these are a great way of getting organized. I also want to get some for doing photo albums for people that want some pictures that I have. I have used these for that and they work very nice. I usually cover with cloth and then they look nice.
