This 48" Ironwood hiking stick is terrific. It looks great, has a couple of small bends that do not affect functionality and, instead, give it character. I was afraid that it would be too heavy for hiking, but it is perfect. Thank you!

I had initially ordered the staff in oak and loved it, so I ordered the twisted sassafras as well! Both are awesome. As many folks have written here, the ferrule was missing from the twisted sassafras when it arrived, but a quick email to [email protected] and they immediately FedExed me a replacement that arrived in 2 days. Just check the measurement of the diameter before emailing them and provide that info (mine was not a standard 1 inch, it was 3/4 inch to get a snug fit). I'm using this in place of a cane for everyday use, and it's a huge difference. I can't stress enough how much difference walking with one of these as opposed to a cane has made in my posture and gait, as well as my mindset. It's the difference between feeling wobbly and frail vs. the sense that I'm actually a wizard off on an adventure! LOL NOTE: I did make a mistake when ordering the sassafras"” I chose the 58" one because it was less expensive (and because WIZARD, amirite?) while my oak one is 55" (for reference, I'm 5'8"), and the sassafras is a bit too tall for proper grip. I added the paracord handle grips myself for stability, and ended up extending the wrap further down than the carved out area to give me a better hold. Also, a tip, if you're going to wrap, a light layer of hockey grip tape first, (not the adhesive kind, but the type that sticks to itself), makes much wrapping easier.
