the buckets came I filled them with water and bakeing soda to wash out the plastic smell put the lids on and water leaked out long story short thay are not air tight at all infact a plastic Folgers can is more airtight than these buckets

So far so good... Storing 10 lbs worth of cat food in this rather than an older plastic bin that just snapped shut. The food appears to be kept fresh as each time I open it, I get a big wiff of food just like when I first open the bag.
My only complaint is it's a bit wide, so it won't fit in the cupboard where the old bin did, and that too would hold 10 lbs of food, but it's a minor issue. I think my kitties are happier that their food is stored in an air tight environment.

Am so delighted I ordered this in the 50 lb, had the 15 and 30 and using them for dog food and kitty litter. I ordered this one, well just because and decided would make a plan after I saw it. My yarn projects now have the perfect storage away from my cat and is a perfect footstool while I crochet and perfect out of the way corner container when not in use.
