The flat part of the tongue is 2.25" wide by 3.00" long. The steel is 1/4" thick. There is 3/4" between the bar around the hinge pin and the hinge pin. I drilled a hole in the flat area to receive my tow bar's connection pin. I used 2 U clamps to connect this hinge to my Artic Cat snowmobile's back handle (this should work with any snowmobile) . This hinge is perfect for my needs!.

Added these between two existing hinges of the same kind so I could add almost 300lb to the trailer door. Leaf vacuum. Did the job fine.

Easy to weld heavy duty hinge , however for my application a side open trailer tailgate it has a good bit of " play" when opened. I've used a barrel hinge for a similar application with no slop or drop..The tailgate drops when opened an must be lifted up to get to latch..
