Good lid design, terrible pot craftsmanship
Picante✓ Verified Purchase•February 20, 2018
The lid design is clever, doubling as a skillet that can be used separately or in tandem with the pot, and the craftsmanship is adequate. The pot craftsmanship, however, is terrible. I almost returned the product after I realized that the interior of the pot was so abrasive that it was snagging fibers off the cloth that I was using to try to wipe it clean when I first got it. I may still wish that I had returned it. I found that the craftsmanship and quality control on the pot part were terrible. I invested money, time, and effort trying to grind and polish down the interior surface to make it acceptable for use. As I worked on it, I found that not only was the pot interior rough and abrasive enough to tear apart cloths and sponges, it pitted and uneven on the bottom, and had lines where molten metal had run down the side due to poor casting control. The quality control on the cast is so poor I am genuinely concerned about the quality of the metal and the durability of the pot. After all my extra investment in it, I have a reasonably useful, if worrisome, product, but not one that I would have bought if I had known what I was getting.
Chuck Wagon Beef Stew and Corn Bread

The oven was well seasoned and cooks great. I made a big Chuck Wagon Beef stew that turned out wonderful. Love the vent that lets me monitor the inside temp with my remote thermometer. As soon as the temp starts to drop I can add more charcoal without opening the lid. I think it is ever bit as good as my Lodge and a better price. I would recommend to friends.
Must have

I love this it's the best thing for a large family camping. I love that the lid turns into a skillet that makes it almost the only cookware you need for camping. I take this and one large regular cast iron skillet. I think if you had a small family it would be all you need. I have 8 kids and a husband go figure lol This is really good quality too because I used it on a fire with a ring of rocks and cooked like a champion. Made the perfect amount of soup for my family as well. I can't say enough about it and can't wait to use it again. I also bought the liners for it and that made clean up a snap while camping. It's heavy but that is to be expected as all cast iron is and that's why I love cast iron so much. Pretty indestructable.
You could fit a human head in there... don't ask...

This thing is pretty massive... Was able to take it camping and make a stew fit for the Donner party. There was enough to feed 7 adults and 3 children and still have a ton of left overs! We didn't starve, but some sacrifices were made... We'll miss you Thomas, but thanks to you, we live on.
Very good quality and perfect size.

This thing works great. Very heavy duty material and will last a lifetime. Worked especially well on my camp chef 16" 3 burner, and with my camp chef dutch oven dome cover. Had a brain waive using it for the first time and used it as a smoker and turned out some amazing smoked baked beans. I took the lid of the camp chef dutch oven, and placed on the camp chef stove as a pan. I then put a few small apple wood chunks (not touching each other) down on the pan. Put the dutch oven on top, covered with the oven dome and voila! A perfect little smoker. I'll be using this for a long time and I can tell you some of the people camping with us this weekend are going to go out and buy this. I fed 20 hungry people with this size, and a few people came back for thirds. 5 stars!
