Nice trimmer with 1/8" measure
Bobbie Hayes✓ Verified Purchase•March 23, 2018
X-ACTO Heavy Duty Wood Guillotine Trimmer, 15 Inches I bought this in February, 2018 and realized that the lines you see in the display pictures are in centimeters. Wait, there is more. The inch measurements are dots and they are accurate to the 1/8". This is the first guillotine trimmer that I have had that has an accurate measure at this level. It cuts well all of the way to the handle. It is delightful to use.The only thing I don't like is the safety guard. (Yeah, it's for my safety but I still don't like it.)
Also, I previously purchases an Xacto plastic model.I lost the paper guide and they sent me one free of charge. When it's handle broke, I dumped the cutter only to find that they will replace the handles at no cost for any of their models. It was amazing, no request for receipt or even date of purchase. Xacto (Elmer's) is really easy to work with

Poor construction quality

The particle board along the back edge (where you slide the paper) is all torn up and poorly constructed. It arrived this way. I know I should return it, but I have work to do and I am just going to have to make due with this thing. I am disappointed with the quality.
the 15 sheets (of plain copy paper) do not slide underneath the blade easily. I don't know if my cutter is defective

The description says that you can cut 15 papers at a time; however, the 15 sheets (of plain copy paper) do not slide underneath the blade easily. I don't know if my cutter is defective, or just calibrated slightly differently, but the blade doesn't rise up high enough where the blade is mounted to the base. When trying to make long strips of paper, I cannot slide the stack of 15 sheets easily underneath the blade to work quickly. Instead, I have to manually reposition the 15 sheets - using both hands - underneath the blade and then cut. This makes what I hoped to be quick work, a frustrating chore.
As well, I found that with very long sheets of paper, when trying to cut 15 sheets at a time, the blade binds slightly at the bottom near the locking mechanism.

Good but not 100%

This is a really nice product and very sturdy but when I line things up flush with the ruler along the top it does cut with a slight slant. It seems to be a few degrees off so I have to preemptively tilt my paper to offset the slant. That seems to work fine. I also wish the cutting arm raised up higher because I cut illustration board with it and if I want to slide a longer piece under the blade to cut off it gets stuck a bit where the blades meets the board when raised because the arm doesn't go up high enough.
Bent Blade = Crooked Cuts

Very disappointed. The blade is clearly bent and has too much side to side play for accurate cutting. Such a shame, otherwise well built product.
