Much easier than sledging

I removed the top 8-10 inches of basketball hoop base using this. Although the directions indicate using a larger drill, I was able to use a 1/2 inch concrete drill down about 5inches and separated by about 5 inches. Much easier than using a large drill and was able to use my existing power drill.
I was only trying to remove the top 6 inches of the concrete base and put dirt over it. Surprisingly it worked great. I let it sit for 3 days and it had split the top layer of the footing in multiple pieces. I decided to got down a little farther and repeated the process.
I had tried to use a sledge hammer before trying this but it was too difficult and was hurting my joints when hitting the concrete. This method took all the pain away. Be sure you order the correct version for the temperature range in which you will be using it.

I am sure the problems with the product were my doing, but it did not break apart my patio. It highlights the importance of not breaking through the bottom, but depending on the project there is no way to know.

I bought this to help break up a large rock in my yard and it did a great job. Make sure you check the temperature guide for your weather since there are different formulations of this product. The red-cap version I bought worked well in the southern heat.
