Terrible Design and Concept

Do not waste your time with this garbage. I have made 1000s of cable in my day and recently I was using these and having issues. I thought I lost my skill. After 3 hours of frustration I went to Home Depot and bought some Ideal regular connectors and within seconds I was making cables.

Problem and its a very big problem is these have no grooves. When you insert the leads the crossover and twist etc. The normal connectors you slide 1/16 of an inch in the connector they each take their groove and slide right in.

No way are these time savers. Terrible design.
Good idea, bad execution

For not being in "the business" I find myself or my manager doing a lot of cat 5 or 6 cable installations. I really thought these would make my life much easier, unfortunately they don't. Some connectors have "channels" near the opening that guide the wires into the terminals that you crimp, they work fine but they can be hard to work with large fingers, you want to only have a small amount of untwisted wire between the outer cover and the terminals, I saw these and thought "wow" now it would be easy to work with longer untwisted wires because you just snip off the excess that go through the connector. Unfortunately, these connectors are like others that I hate, they do not have the "guide" channels and when you put the wires into the connector you really have to be careful they do not move from their correct positon and go to the wrong "terminal" end. If these had the guide channels I would give them 5 starts in a heart beat.
Do not use with 23 AWG Cat 6

I got these and the EZ Crimp tool to go with them last week to do a wiring project over the weekend, and ended up with a nightmare. At theory, they look great, ensuring perfect wire ordering every time. In practice, however, actually GETTING the wires to poke thru in the right order is massively frustrating. Let me start off by saying that I was using 23 AWG Cat 6 cabling, which if you read the reviews, these connectors aren't good for. I didn't realize that when I ordered them, though. It's not like the product description warns you about that.
To make a long story short, it took me 4 hours to terminate (both ends) my first two runs. They seemed to work ok, and I figured it'd speed up as I got better. I spent the next 12 hours making cable after cable and NONE of them worked after that.
I did get faster, and I tried everything. I slid the conductors up as a whole, I inserted them one at a time with little pliers, I even tried to just run the green and orange wires into the plug since you don't technically need the other ones.
Once you finally get the wires through, then you have to shove the plug all the way down to do the crimp. Depending on my far you have to slide the thing, it can be miserable. All of your wires have to be perfectly straight and crisscrossed as little as possible, or you end up with your plug stuck half-way down the distance. Don't even try using pliers to shove it down "“ It'll knock the golden crimp-teeth right out of the plug, never to be seen again. Once you finally get to the point where you can slide the thing, having your plug break is maddening.
Having the wires stick out the front of the plug is a nice-to-have, but it's just not worth the frustration. Again, maybe my problems are a result of using 23 AWG Cat 6. If that's what you have, don't even bother. They sell Cat 6 plugs for 23 AWG elsewhere on Amazon. Go buy those.
I will say that their EZ Crimp tool is really nice.
Defective

Let me start by saying I loved these connectors at first.

I've bought a pack of black box branded EZ connectors that weren't as friendly of a design for bigger CAT 6 cables, but gave me no crimping issues.

I started using these Platinum connectors on a job and started having issues and I couldn't figure out why until I noticed the pin issue you'll see in the pictures.

Now I'm using the Platinum crimper too, not some other brand of a knock off.
I've also tried another brand connector in my platinum crimpers and don't have that issue.

The WHOLE package is defective like this. I don't see any issue with my crimpers that could be causing this especially since they don't do it with other brands of jacks.
Love Platinum Tools EZ-RJ45

Love Platinum Tools EZ-RJ45. 5 stars, but I clearly received fake plugs which I returned. I had some real ones at home. The ones I got here came in a plain generic plastic bag and were of obvious inferior quality. Take a look at the comparison pics of the real ones next to the ones I returned. Pretty obvious which are fake.
