We needed a way to keep gophers out of our 4 ft x 8 ft. raised vegetable garden. Tried out two of these, one per raised bed. First off thought all was well as our corn, beets and carrots grown from seed were doing great. But as soon as the corn plants were 18 to 20 inches tall the gophers ate every one. Carrots were eaten by gophers too. Even tried 2 units in one 4 x 8 bed, same result. Finally to make things worse, one unit quit working. Checked inside wires all all looked good. Don't waste your money. Our 6 large pinwheels worked better!
Noisy before the end of it's short life.

Well, here is the good news, it did keep the animals away. Out of the box this thing was really loud, guests at a cookout complained about it and I could hear it at night with the windows open from about 15 yards away. The noise is not an issue anymore; as it just stopped working after about a month. I bought one a few years ago from another manufacturer that was smaller, less noisy and lasted a reasonable amount of time.
Didn't work

My neighbor recommended this to get rid of a Pocket Gopher in our front yard. The Gopher started out in his back yard and he chased it to our front yard using two of these. He said he put them in and the Gopher left within an hour. He saw it running and he took chase but it eluded him. I bought two for my front yard but it didn't seem to make any difference at all so I had to hire a guy that specializes in pests to get rid of it.

But the product arrived right away in perfect condition and did everything it advertised. It vibrates and lets off and annoying sound. It worked for my neighbor but for whatever reason did nothing for me other than buying the Gopher more time.
If moles are your problem, give it time, it works

Very easy to use and set up, you will know it is working by the beep it makes every 15 seconds or so. Inside the beep seemed a little loud so I wondered if we would hear it inside once I set it up outside. Did not hear the beep at all inside once I set it up outside. When you are close you do hear the beep but it is not to loud. We have a small garden that we use it for, well within the recommended dimensions. I buried it to where the solar panel was only a couple of inches above the ground. If you dig a hole to bury the unit make sure you pack the dirt, this will help convey the sound waves through the ground. Covered the mole holes every day and after about a week they did not come back. But wait, after a few days the holes were back, so apparently the moles came back hoping the annoyance had gone away. I was disappointed but decided to give it a little more time. Again covered the holes every day for about a week and then the holes disappeared again but this time for good! Overall it took about three weeks to get rid of the moles permanently. It has now been two months and they have not come back. Also appears to have had some effect on the larger pests but that was not my concern because of the small 18 inch high fence we have around the garden. If moles are your problem it worked for us. Recommended.
Pocket gophers laugh as they dig by it

We are in Colorado and are plagued with pocket gophers. We have had these pest repellers in our lawn for over 2 years and I have yet to see any difference in the hungry pests digging patterns. I think they chuckle and use it as a beacon to know where in the garden are the tastier roots and bulbs.

Maybe it works for some people because they have moles. I bet a lot of people don't even know what they have in their lawn - for months, my wife and I debated whether we had pocket gophers or voles. I know we have pocket gophers because we've captured and released over a dozen.

These don't work. What works is the wash, catch and release program. My wife takes the hose, floods all of their tunnels and air holes. Sometimes it takes hours to get one to surface and doesn't always work. Once they surface, scoop them up in a bucket and take to a nearby national forest, open space or park.

Also works to build garden boxes with tough wire mesh on the bottom.

Good luck!
