Read this and most of the negative reviews will make to laugh.

This is my first review on Amazon.
1st I purchased my Chef's Choice 810 from here, not Ebay or some other online site and not used at a garage sale.
2nd I read reviews from 3 site before making this purchase, more positive then negative ones, and most of the negative ones made me laugh.

Now on to the review: Devil Eggs ... I normally am the person at a get together that brings them, I also love soft and hard boiled eggs. I have been looking for an automatic egg cooker that will cooks hard boiled eggs perfectly and in my personal opinion I found it. Read the instructions, set it up, and I was on my way. Basically add water ( about 3/4 cup) to the base, place egg stand over water add 1 to 7 eggs, set time, wait, enjoy your perfectly cooked eggs. Pealing the eggs was easy, when the buzzer went off, I switched the power button to off, tipped the lid (read instructions) to release the steam, removed the cover and carefully lifted the egg holder off and into a large pot of ice water.FOR EASY PEALING
The pot I normally used to cook my eggs before now is used to cool down the eggs after the Chef's Choice 810 did its job. When I say ice water, that is what I mean .. a pot with 1 or 2 trays of ice cubes, and water, must have room for the eggs to be placed in the pot, so I would use 1/3 to 1/2 ice then fill the rest with cold water. After cooking then cooling down the eggs so they cool to the touch, they pealed easy, not 40 little egg shell bits and pieces stuck to the egg everywhere. I ran out bought fresh eggs to see how this cooker would work with a dozen of eggs just bought. Normally, we all know fresh eggs don't peal thus why having them in your fridge weeks prior to making hard boiled eggs is the normally way of life. Not with this machine! The newly bought eggs pealed effortlessly, 3 to 4 large pieces of shell, and only 1 to 2 little pieces from when I cracked the egg to start pealing it.

Other reviews (mostly negative) rate it for what it doesn't do, and never stated it did those things. IE 1 Star does not have an automatic shutoff, it does not. Never stated where it did, rate your reviews on what the product(s) functionality. Because it could use a added bonus would warrant a 4 Star but 1 Star really? that would be like be posting 1 Star because I could not make toast with this item. And what are these people doing while cooking the eggs, washing their cars, shopping or taking a nap that your house could burn down (yes I read that in one comment) Now a few commented on it does not make soft boiled eggs, and I tested that as well, one egg at a time to learn the machines settings. I slide the timer to SOFT which is about 7 on the scale, and my first egg came out almost perfectly cooked if I was making a hard boiled egg. I was confused it took the setting of 15 or 17 to make a hard boiled egg, and yet at 7 it appeared to be hard boiled, so the next egg I tried 5 and it was slightly more runny then I liked, and now I learned with my egg cooker 5 1/2 is perfect. So test the times with one egg at a time to work out the variations from one to another machine in the timing, I stared out at setting 17 and am at 15 working my way down to make hard boiled eggs. BTW the yokes cooked at the settings 17 and 15 looked alike, nice bright yellow, no green (showing you over cooked) and not runny but a nice ( flakey ) like you want them when making Devil Eggs, when you hit them with a fork they crumble.
Amazing Egg Cooker! Saves a Lot of Time and Frustrations.

As a single guy, this egg cooker and the blender are the most used tools in my kitchen. I was never good at multitasking, and truth be told, I've had my good share of burnt toasts that were consumed anyways, so it was nice to remove hard-boiled eggs from that equation!

This little machine is fantastic. I like my morning eggs hard on the outside and a little soft, but not runny, on the inside. I found the perfect settings to be halfway between number 8 and 9, and it delivers every single time! Unlike my old Cuisinart 8-egg cooker, I don't have to worry about the amount of water I pour, nor the number of eggs that are placed inside, because the cooking is independent of either variables. Above all, I no longer have to drill tiny holes in raw eggs beforehand to prevent them from exploding as required by the old Cuisinart. Accidents still happen, but that's usually when I pour more water than the maximum limit mark.

I don't have filtered water running through the pipes, but I use the filtered water from the fridge dispenser to reduce the residue buildup in this egg cooker and my electric kettle. I didn't do this with our old Cuisinart egg cooker, and the black plastic was covered with hard-to-clean white sediments pretty quickly. Of course you can boil some vinegar inside to clean it, but with filtered water you never get them in the first place.

This is a very good egg cooker, better than the Cuisinart I had before. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this device, and I don't remember the last time I said this with this much enthusiasm about any kitchen tools! Thank you for reading this mini review.

Pros:
- The tray has a handle that you can pick up and pour cold water directly on the cooked eggs. No need to get the eggs into a different bowl first.
- Has a complex setting that makes variety of soft and hard boiled eggs in a single run!
- Brushed stainless look matches other kitchen appliances.
- Cooking to perfection neither depends on the number of eggs nor the amount of water.
- No need to drill holes into raw eggs to prevent them from blowing up egg whites all over the place.

Cons:
- The alarm is a little annoying. I wish they had a nicer tone or a musical chime.
- It doesn't turn off automatically after it is done. You have to manually turn the switch off.
- If you are not careful with the water maximum limit, it may overflow, or the eggs may explode.
- You have to carefully remove the lid after cooking to prevent skin burns, because a lot of steam builds up underneath.
So easy to use and perfect results!

I spotted this product in a Fine Cooking magazine ad. It caught my eye because of the sleek look and small footprint. I ordered it the next day.

When it arrived, I quickly scanned the instructions and set up seven extra large eggs for hard boiling. Per the instructions, I set the slider a little more toward the right for more cooking time, as these were extra large eggs. I walked away and waited to hear the beeper. After about 17 minutes, I started to wonder--had the beeper gone off and I missed it? Did I mis-read the instructions?

Never fear. Trust the appliance. A few minutes later I heard it beeping, and it kept beeping. I decided there would be no problem hearing it when it finished. Note that the beeper is merely announcing that things are done. The appliance DOES NOT turn itself off, so you need to go pay attention to it when it beeps or you will have overcooked eggs.

There are lots of warnings about the hot steam in the instructions. Take heed. You do not want to lift the lid by pulling the handle up. Rather, tip the lid handle down so the steam is away from your hand and fingers. The handle of the egg tray will be very hot with the steam rising, Do not to grab the egg tray handle with an unprotected hand. I used tongs to lift the tray to the sink, where I placed it in a bowl and ran cold water over the tray and eggs.

I decided to peel only two of them for egg salad, wondering how easily they would peel, since they were super fresh. I tapped the larger ends on the counter and peeled them under cool running water. Both eggs had strong membranes, but they peeled easily and perfectly. As others have noted, the egg white was tender, not rubbery. And both eggs were cooked exactly how I expected. Made a great egg salad. Yum.

This a.m., I decided to try soft boiled eggs. I will need to do a bit of experimentation to get this perfect, but I erred on the side of caution, so my eggs were more medium boiled. Still delicious and tender, though.

Note--while the eggs are cooking, there is no indication of passing time (the timing slider doesn't move) The appliance simply does its thing and beeps when it's ready. This isn't a problem, but thought it was with mentioning. You'll probably want to make note of where on the timing scale you achieve your perfect results.

I haven't tried the poached egg tray, but I'm not much of a poached egg eater. I read that it can be used to make an omelette, but that's something I will continue to do on the stove.

I've recommend this to a couple of friends, and everyone loves it. Great product!
GREAT EGG COOKER

I bought this Chef's Choice egg cooker in 2015 and it worked perfectly for 8 years, AND I used it almost every week....Until I melted it in the oven on accident. I placed it in the oven for some reason; I think to quickly get it out of the way. A few days later I turned the oven on and didn't look inside to see if there was anything in the oven. After about 5 minutes of the oven warming, I smelled something and there was the melted cord and other parts of my wonderful egg cooker. Just a few weeks ago (March 10, 2023) I ordered a new Chef's Choice egg cooker and it doesn't seem quite as sturdy, just made a bit differently, hopefully this one will work like the one I bought in 2015.
LOVE but too expensive and always breaks

I love this maker, however, I have had about 5 over the past years. The measurement lines always rub off. I have had the on button get fickle, on one the cord going into the base shredded which was dangerous. Another just stopped working. I would order yet another but it is very over priced. This is the best because it has an alarm when done and you do not need to measure water and it has a 3 egg poach tray. I do recommend this but it disappoints because it never lasts more than a year or two. I use everyday for my dad's breakfast and for the amount it cost, it should last longer.

There was one review saying they had for 15 years which blows my mind and wish I could get that lucky.
