Works great. I do hvacr

Works great. I do hvacr. Had to trace A LOT of wires on a refrigeration system on a boat. Bought this to help out. Worked perfectly. All wires have to be dead (which they were) worked on larger high voltage wires, smaller cables. Only the shielded wires gave a little trouble as the tone SIGNIFICANTLY dies through a shield but that's understandable. Used it a lot and so far haven't had to change batteries on anything. I also plan on doing some rewiring on my house that I expect this will be handy to have.
Saves time like you wouldn't believe.

I used the tone generator to trace Ethernet lines to the basement of a 3 story house. I can only image how long it would have taken me to follow each individual wire. One of my favorite features is the ability to verify your on the right wire. all you have to do is take 2 wires that are connected to the toner and touch them together and the sound changes. I suggest having a set of two way radios and a helper. As awesome as this product is you still have to move the toner from room to room and depending on how big the job is that's a lot of running up and down the stairs.

I love my Fluke Tone Generator. While targeted at the 'pro' segment, I use this all around my house while tracing the already installed cable and pulling new lines while setting up my home network. The signal is strong enough to locate from a short distance, helping at times find the lines either behind drywall, and under a few inches of blown insulation in the attic. However, there were a few instances where there were two lines in a single box, and I noticed some bleed-over in the signal, and I had to listen with a fairly discerning ear to differentiate between the two lines.
Having this tool also helped me diagnose a wiring issue in my home and come up with a solution to wiring my second story onto the network.
There are less expensive tone generators on the market, however I don't believe any of them to be as reliable, or as consistent as the Fluke.

Best toner out there in my opinion. I use this on fire alarm systems and you can actually walk down a hallway and hold this above your head and trace out wires above the ceiling.
Exactly what I needed to finish my home project

Works great for the use I intended it for. I converted the existing CAT-5e cable runs in my new house the original builder used for phones and put them over to network drops. I had a bundle of CAT-5e in the basement that wasn't labeled so I had to tone out all the drops in order to put them into a punch down patch panel. I used to have another fox and hound, but couldn't find it so I got this one. I'd definitely buy it again!
