Great!

My 7 year old daughter loves this advent calendar. The chocolate is delicious and the pieces are bigger than what you'd get from a grocery store advent calendar. The doors are also easier to open and less frustrating than other calendars we've had. There are several different wrapper colors and she loves seeing which she'll get that day. Each day also has a cute poem she enjoys reading. I was skeptical of the price but the quality & quantity of the chocolate combined with the nice design and cute poems makes it worth it. I'll definitely be getting this calendar again next year.
A Rewarding Eye Test

I bought both the secular (toy store) version of this Madelaine Advent calendar and the Christian (Nativity) version, one for mornings and one for evenings. (Hey! I like chocolate! #DontJudgeMe!). Both are wonderful.
I personally prefer the Nativity version because, hey, Christmas is about JESUS and I'' a Christian so the Nativity is more appropriate. But Ithink children will like it better, too, because the numbers are more readable and less frustrating to find.
Both feature more chocolate than other chocolate-bearing calendars. Each piece is a square block about the size between the joints of your fingers. This is both a good thing and a bad thing because that makes them a little more difficult to chew. Please be careful small children don't choke.
Another pleasant surprise is that the back of each door contains a little rhyme for the picture on that specific door! That is especially nice on the Nativity version. Finally, each piece of chocolate is wrapped in foil to look like a beautiful, tiny Christmas package.
Both versions are great but (except for not using Scripture) the Nativity version of Madelaine's Advent Calendar is all you could ask for in a memory-making fun and educational (about number recognition and the meaning of Christmas) time with kids leading up to Christmas.

Chocolate is white and stale.

The chocolate must be very old because every square is white and powdery. Not edible at all. I'm miffed that something my children look forward to every year was a disappointment and I don't feel like spending more money to replace them. Never again.
Don't hesitate- get it. The kids love it!

My son is almost three and this is the first advent calendar. He loves the daily ritual, especially the chocolate. The chocolate is fantastic and a good size. The only downside for a 40 something parent is locating the number on the window cause they are so small and it's a real episode everyday passing it back and forth with my spouse trying to find it lol

I just got this calendar and my (5 yr old) daughter and I love it. I wasn't expecting the chocolate to be great, especially because I am pretty picky when it comes to chocolate, but it's actually really good! I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tastes. The individually wrapped chocolates are so cute, with shiny wrappers that look like little presents. All chocolates were in place. I kind of wish I'd have ordered 2! Definitely worth the money.
