Bought it for my plants and it is so cute! Just have to clean regularly like with any other humidifier to keep it from molding. Easy to fill and visually can see it working. Does make a little noise when the water is going down but not enough to be a bother it doesn't happen every time or a lot just when you are running it on high for awhile.

this product is very effective and cute! I ordered it for myself as an asthmatic living in the Northern Midwest of the US, and not for a child. The red coloring on one of the seal bands does color some of the product in some red residue. I do recommend only using distilled water and not tap water, though if you do regularly clean it, tap water didn't kill it in the year I used it (i lost the chord to power it, oops! :p)

The shipping order, the shipping box, and the box housing the humidifier all confirmed that I was to receive the frog style. I removed the product box from the shipping box. I opened the product box. I found that this particular frog humidifier wasn't green, but white and black with a pink snout! It's webbed feet were black, rather than a pleasant green.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cows -but I think this frog was actually a cow!

Anyway, I utilized many tools to clean out my fro- I mean COW- humidifier, including tooth brushes and pipe cleaners. Because I used tap water, there were calcified bits that were particularly hard to get to in order to remove. This is not the humidifier's fault, but the reason why distilled water is preferred for this product.

We initially purchased the Kidsline humidifier from the store since it was incredibly cute. But apart from the physical appeal, everything else about the Kidsline humidifier annoyed me. The mist was spraying from the BACK of the humidifier so it was hitting against the wall (most people will place their humidifiers on a counter that's against the wall, right?). Much worse was the power setting of the Kidsline humidifier, or should I say non-existent power setting inspite of a knob - the mist was beyond control & I was nervous about leaving something like this in our daughters' room overnight without any parental supervision.

We packed up the former humidifier on the same night we bought it- and I immediately ordered the Crane Hello Kitty humidifier. Took the package to arrive in 2 days which was fantastic speed. Now this Crane humidifier is a new dimension altogether. The mist is ultra-fine so it's not even visible to the human eye if it's on average setting but you can feel it. The mist sprays out of Hello Kitty's ears which is upright so I'm very pleased and feel much more assured with this design. Not to mention it's equally as cute as the Kidsline's range; my daughters were psyched with this replacement and especially adore the nightlight which is a very awesome purplish-blue shade. My 3.5 yr old can't wait to turn out the lights each night so this humidifier will light up, well who will argue with a couple of young kids when they tell you they want to go to bed NOW!

I purchased two of these humidifiers, the frog and the penguin were our animals of choice. The Frog was for our daughter's room and the Penguin was for our room. We tried the Frog in our daughter's room first (she is four months old) as we found she was coughing and getting a very dry, snotty nose at night due to the dry air from the central heat in our new home. After just one night of the humidifier in her room we found the dry cough she would get in the morning was gone. We now use ours in our room and found it made a difference for us too.

The units aren't full of lots of bells an wistles (in hind sight I would have liked one that would auto shut off when the room got to the right humidity but I'm still not willing to pay the higher price for that feature), but they work great and are fun to look at. They are super quiet too which was my biggest concern as I am a VERY light sleeper. I have no issues have this humidifier on and sleeping even better than I did before. Overall we are super happy with the purchase.

UPDATE: April 2013
We've now owned both units for over two years. I found them a bit small to be effective in our master bedroom unless places directly next to the person sleeping that needed the humidity. For my daughter's room (standard room size of 10x12) the frog has been irreplaceable. I don't miss the auto shut off as I had originally stated. We primarily use her frog unit when she has a cold or other respiratory issue and it works wonders. Our home is very dry and when she has a cold it tends to move right into a dry cough at night unless we use the humidifier. The frog (and penguin but it doesn't get much use) have stood the test of time, with two years of use and two moves later they are still as quiet and running as smooth as they did the day they arrived from Amazon. Very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend these to anyone in the market for a humidifier, especially for a child's room.

The first night I used it, I loved it. It worked great, low noise, nice mist, was very pleased with it. Second night, I put a few drops of oils in it, still pleased with the product. Third night, same a second. Fourth night, the whole unit was cracked, not just in one or two places but all over. I trashed it. Soooo don't use oils as directed and this will be a great product!
