Pressure switch troubles…
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•September 11, 2023
Fan itself works great. I had major trouble getting the pressure switch to work"¦directions say to put the tube within 30" of the fan on the intake side. Trouble is, when the fan kicks on, it creates suction that works against the pressure needed to keep the fan going"¦it will shut off after 10 minutes. To solve, I had to relocate the pressure switch right next to the dryer, and leave the fan in the attic"¦to do this I had to buy extra 18ga wire to connect the gauge back to the fan, but now it works great. Instructions are terrible, but product is good.
Great And Quite Fan

For years we have been having to run our dryer almost two times for each load to adequately dry items. After some research online, I realized our dryer vent duct run was 20ft which was way more than it should be without having an in-line booster fan. I looked for sometime at many brands and I decided to purchase this one due to the reviews that this unit was really quite. I was amazed that the various manufacturers don't mention how noisy or quite their units are.....so in a leap of faith from the Amazon reviews, I purchased this one. And I must say, that it the reviews were correct, this fan is really quite. We can barely hear the fan running when it's on (we do hear the rush of air being pulled through the duct though...but this is a good thing and it's not that loud). Simlar to another review I read, I had to install this unit horizontally in my basement. Since you have to mount the pressure sensor in a vertical direction when mounting the fan horiztonally, I had to build a small wood frame to mount the support bracket to. In addition, I added stainless steel straps to each end of the duct pipe to my floor joists for added support. My unit had arrows on the fan enclosure that depicted inlet and outlet flow so this made it easy to know which direction to install the fan in the duct run. I also installed a secondary lint filter per the instructions to help reduce the amount of maintence required for the fan.
The one complaint I have is the mention of drilling a drip hole for potential water that may accumulate if you mount the fan horizontal. I attempted to follow the directions for this, but I could not find the specific size threaded fitting they were calling for...so I wound up drilling a little bit larger hole to match the smallest threaded fitting I could find at Lowe's. I installed the fitting along with some silicon on the threads (Note: I did try contacting the manufacturer via email to confirm the hole size and threaded callout was correct, but I never got a response). So far, the larger hole is working great...!!!
In regards to providing power to the unit, similar to other posts, I used a heavy gauge appliance cord as my means of providing power. This give me the option of unplugging it when I need to do the routine maintence on the unit. When making this installation, luckly I had a few long shafted "small" screwdrivers that allowed me to install the cord and punchout support without having to take the electrical connection board out like other reviewers had to do...but you definitely need to take care..very fragile setup so don't get too agressive.
We've had the fan now for several months and so far it's been doing great. Now everything we've run through the dryer since installing this unit has been dry after only one cycle. I am glad I purchased this fan and it's really performing better than I expected.

This fan blew me away

My electric clothes dryer seemed to be taking longer and longer to do the job. I have a duct run of about 18 feet, and despite running a cleaning brush through it a couple of times a year, not much of a gust was coming out the exhaust vent. I thought this fan would help.
The fan took about two weeks to arrive. I'd already replaced the entire run of ducting with smooth, metal duct. When I unpacked the fan, I found the housing was severely cracked in two places, even though the shipping box was perfectly intact. I contacted Amazon, who in turn, contacted the seller, Professional Grade Products.
They were very courteous and responsive, contacting me within an hour. They sent me a pre-paid shipping label by e-mail for the return, and I dropped off the box at a UPS Store. Within two days, I had a new fan. I was very impressed with how responsive Professional Grade Products was in replacing the item.
I've noticed one review commenting about the bracket being flimsy. Though it seemed pretty solid, when I mounted the fan on it, it did sag a little bit. However, sincethe fan unit also sits upon the duct, there was no stability problem at all once installed.
The one issue with installation I had was that I'd installed the ductwork more or less flush with the wall, but the mounted fan was about 4 inches further out. I used twistable elbow ducting from HomeDepot to make the connections. Not a big problem.
I find the fan very quiet. The dryer itself makes more noise, so the fan seems almost silent.
It provides a wonderful flow of air from the dryer to the outside vent, whisking moist, hot air from the dryer, and considerably speeding the drying process.
The pressure-activated switch is terrific. A small plastic "sensing" tube from this switch is inserted into the duct just before the fan. Once the dryer is turned on, the air pressure within the duct activates the fan, and it turns on within seconds. After the dryer stops, the fan runs for maybe a minute or less, then turns off. Very nice that there's no separate switch to remember to turn on or off.
In my set up the bracket is attached to a cement block wall, and there are rubber grommets between the fan housing and bracket. No vibration whatsoever is evident. It runs quietly and efficiently. I'm making a leap of faith, too, that the increased air flow will pull lint through the duct more effectively, so there will be less buildup - but that remains to be seen.
If you're running a long duct, and seeing inefficiencies in the operation of your clothes dryer, this fan just might be the ticket to faster and more efficient operation. I'd recommend it based on my experience. And recommend Professional Grade Products as well, based on their responsive and high quality customer service.

Direct replacement for builder installed booster fan

Works fine. Need to consider a 2 part bracket to make installation easier.
Don't buy this fan for dryer booster! Buy the new DEDPV-705!
Keegan✓ Verified Purchase•August 2, 2023
Dryer exhaust should use the new DEDPV-705 fan, it implements the updated UL705 code specifically for dryer vents. This recommendation is printed right on the top of their box. Unfortunately, not sold on Amazon at this time, so see their website for where to buy. SupplyHouse was the cheapest at time of writing, with HVACquick a few bucks more.
