Beautiful system
TimTime•November 27, 2017
I've been wanting to downgrade my speakers for a while. I've had a Cerwin-Vega AVS 5.1 system for almost 20 years. They've always sounded awesome and when the subwoofer amp went south, I bought a Pioneer Sub and replaced the speaker with the original Cerwin-Vega sub. The problem with the system is the satellite speakers are quite large, 4 inch speakers in each, double 4s in the center. Each satellite was about 8 inches tall 5 inches wide. So I've always wanted something smaller without sacrificing sound. Things matter to me, like hearing the slice of a sword, the strum of a guitar, the thump of a basketball. On some systems you really miss out on these things.
I've tried Yamahas and Sony's and the sound wasn't quite there. I had a killer Harman Kardon receiver in the 70-80s so I know Harman Kardon. I admit I'm an audiophile. When I saw these on sale for $129 on BF I thought I'd take a chance.
The speakers themselves are beautiful. The sub was bigger than I expected but I admit, it's beautiful too. Sound wise, these are way better than the Yamahas and Sony I tried. I'm running these with a Denon receiver. The sub turns on and off automatically like it should. These still aren't quite what my Cerwin Vegas were but I'd say 95%. All in all I was able to get a nicer looking system with killer sound for $129, and no tax. Not bad. Perfectly happy here.
And yeah what the other people said about the walk mounts. I was able to install the wall mounts without too much fuss but they don't snap into place as easily as they should. Not s good wall mount design. I really wish they had keyholes on the back.
I'll update if I having any issues. Warranty is 5 years on the speakers, 1 year on the electronics.

Solid Sounding System, but Warranty drawbacks

I bought the HKTS-15 setup a couple years ago. It's a great sounding system with good looking speakers that don't overpower your theater room or take up enormous amounts of wall space. My only complaint is the very limited warranty, which I never even considered when purchasing this system because I very rarely have had any electronics go bad in my experience, and being something of a tech nerd I was usually able to fix things that went wrong.
However, after about 2 years my subwoofer stopped working abruptly. No input could elicit any sound from it whatsoever, not even an annoying ground-loop buzz. Since HK's warranty only lasts for 1-year, the repair costs at the only authorized repair shop in my area is going to be nearly $300. Anyone doing the math at home will notice that's nearly 3/4 of the cost of the entire system itself.
Needless to say, subwoofers don't fail from misuse, because you never touch them. They just sit there. So if they go bad after two years, that's a quality control issue and something I will pay a lot more attention to in the future. If HK isn't willing to stand by their product for more than 1 year, I'd find another manufacturer that will.

Harman Kardon

Used now for almost a year. Great sound, strong base(almost too strong as have set to low setting always). Complements nicely my 65" TV and Onkyo receiver for a fine movie experience.
Sound is great.

I bought the Harmon Kardon speaker set based upon reviews in Amazon. Let me just say that I am very happy with my decision. The price was great and I love the sound. I also got the stands for the rear speakers and they work really well. You can't see any wires at all. Everything is beautiful.
Bottom line: I couldn't be any happier with the purchase and the product.
