I just moved and downsized. I sell jewelry and needed storage. I purchased a armoire from Home Decorators. It took weeks to receive it. It was very poorly made and was very expensive. I called immediately and was told the company would call me back.
After a week I heard nothing. I had to call 4 times to finally get it picked up. I decided I didn't want another one, I would have gotten a replacement but with all I had to go through to get it taken back I decided not to chance it. I have just started purchasing items from Amazon and they come quick and the packaging is always excellent. I picked another armoire on line it was only $20.00 more. I received it in three days,it was packaged beautifully and the quality was so much better. There were a few chips which I was able to touch up. I have so much room for all my jewelry and it looks beautiful. This is a great piece and I love dealing with Amazon. So happy I made the switch. Still waiting fot my credit from Home Decorators. Will never deal with them again.

General look is quite good - looks and feels solid weighing in a 70 lbs. Fit and finish could use minor improvements like drawer guides and upgraded hardware, but the color was spot-on and it feels good to the touch.

Like many before me, mine arrived damaged: large gouge in the lid, broken mirror and damaged right-hand door. I will say, however, that it shipped with a broken-missing parts sheet which I completed and returned to the Customer Service department at Powell. Their Customer Service Agent returned my e-mail within 24 business hours. He was quite clear in my options and how long it might take to replace the broken parts.

I would buy again, but would suggest that the company look for better packing for shipping.

I bought this armoire because in all the photos I saw of it on several sites, it looked like a perfect match to my existing bedrm furniture and I wanted to put all my jewelry in one place. The price on Amazon was by far the lowest. The item arrived a full 5 days before I was expecting it and was well packaged. The color is quite a bit lighter and redder than the photos, but it does not clash with my current furniture. Assembly of the top mirrored section was easy. Hardware is included to secure the armoire to the wall behind it to avoid it tipping over, especially if the upper drawers are loaded more heavily than the lower ones. The drawers are very uniformly made, so if I switch all the ones around that are the same size, they still all fit well in the drawer spaces. If you want to pull out the entire drawer to view your jewelry options, then this armoire is great, but if you just want to pull out the drawers a bit, be careful as there is nothing to stop the drawers from coming out all the way. I would have given it 5 stars if the color was more what I wanted.

I ordered the armoire after reading all the reviews for similar products. Most had severe damage during shipping, accept this item. There were some comments about minor issues, but nothing major. Ours arrived with one corner of the box slightly pushed in, but there did not appear to be damage from the outside. My wife opened it on Christmas Day (a present) and was thrilled! There was one small compression in the wood on the top back left corner of the armoire. Fortunately, the lid hides it 95% of the time. You really have to look to see it and know that it is there. So my advice, when it arrives, do as I did, make sure the box is in good tact. If not, it is probably damaged. The Armoire itself is perfect for my wife. I use to think she had lots of jewelry, but no, she has plenty of room left. She can now see her bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, etc. She is wearing jewelery that she has not worn in years because she can find it! And as one reviewer wrote, you can add more hooks to the side compartments for necklaces if you need more space. It is well made and good quality for the money. Just be weary of possible shipping damage.

I must admit that when the box arrived I was immediately filled with a dread, based on previous reviews of how terrible the packing was. I got this as a Valentine present and knew it was a one time shot to get a good product without having to return it, etc. I suppose this is why you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. I carefully opened the packing, which takes quite awhile because, as it turns out, the Armoire is EXTREMELY well protected. Once unpacked, I went over the product with a fine tooth comb and breathed a sigh of relief when I found nothing wrong, no bad fittings, sprung doors, drawers, etc. The only thing you have to do after unpacking is install the top, which is simple, all you need is a Phillips head driver, and you're done in 10 minutes.
The excitement of my girlfriend seeing it in her bedroom was well worth the money and time. Speaking of money, the price was very good compared to others I looked at. As usual, I was won over by Amazons Prime shipping and no sales tax.
