Keeps the woodpeckers away.
Proavman•May 1, 2017
This foil did the trick to keep the woodpecker away from the corner of,our house. We had a carpenter replace the boards that had holes and were not happy when the bird came back to begin again. Our neighbor also uses these strips. Looks okay and scares them off. Occassionally gets tangled in the wind, but most of the time they flap freely.
Birds Don't Like this Stuff!
Johnny D•November 18, 2016
Birds don't like this stuff. I have woodpeckers and other small birds that love to go after my wood siding. I've used this product for a couple of years now. I simply cut off a 2-4' length of it and attach it to the siding with a clear pushpin/tack. I put a strip n every area close to where I've had a problem. The strips flutter wind making noise and reflect in the sunlight. The only downside is that they do make noise against the side of the house which you can hear inside. I consider that a small price to pay versus the "tap-tap-tap-tap" of a woodpecker going after my red cedar. Depending on placement, the sun-facing strips also fade after a season's use, so I've had to re-order a couple of times. But the non-sun facing strips are savable after a season. Inexpensive and recommended.
Keeps birds off the boat
Kristin Zhivago•August 9, 2016
I haven't tried the other tapes, which, I note, are more expensive. No need; this tape works really well on our boat. I cut it into narrower strips (about an inch wide, half the width) so it flies more easily in the wind, and use close pins to attach pieces about 10 inches long to various places on the boat - especially the lifelines and the jib sheets.
It works perfectly.
Without them, terns or swifts take up residence and every time we go sailing I have to spend quite a bit of time cleaning up the gifts they leave behind. With these put up about every 6 feet or so, they just don't hang out on the boat and it is gift-free when we go out sailing. The sparkly stuff does wear off underneath the close pin, and if we have had strong winds, the loose part will wear off also; I find I need to replace them every few weeks. But given the price and the effectiveness, I don't mind. It's better than gift patrol!

Strongest of the 3 Reflective Tapes I Bought
Marsha Joiner•June 28, 2016
Appears to be the thickest of the 3 reflective tapes I ordered at the same time. It makes noise in the breeze and may scare critters away. Time will tell. I have three types of tape, wind chimes, CDs and irish spring soap about. Not sure which will really work if any but trying them all.

AK22•April 19, 2016
Have tried this with the birds on the high tapered church roof --- the swishing sound and colourful flashing has driven off some of these bluebirds, doves and even black birds. The mess on the floor is now minimal. I even tied near to mango on the tree, the birds were also checking it but this tape kept them at bay so I was able to get the mango unpecked.
