This was a gift for my son. He loves it and informed me that he tested it in pouring rain and it is impervious to water. He is 14 and takes part in a lot of out door projects and camping activities and this is his go to garment for working and being outdoors. Stitching rivets and straps and all the fabric are top notch quality. Really well constructed and super tough. I work on a farm and am now also considering purchasing one for myself. Plus, It looks really cool ;)
LOVE. THIS. COAT.

Cant say enough good things about this coat. I received yesterday along with the Bootlegger hat. Received on time and I should mention, just in time out here in Worcester County, MA, where we had another strange storm or as we call it, a wintry mix, which means heavy sleet, snow and freezing rains, accompanied by unpredictable winds.
One thing I noticed right away is the heft of the coat and while it did take a few minutes to figure out the buttons, it was as if I was wrapped in an oilskin cocoon. The rain just doesn't get in, regardless of how hard its blowing, regardless of how nasty the sleet is. buttoned up all the way and secure under the hat, I was pretty much impervious to the elements. I will likely get the liner in the near future, but overall, I was pretty warm under the skin.
Price - about what I expected to pay - locally at a Cabellas, this ran for 160-180...paying instead 124, I was happy. Normally I never buy a lot of clothing online because I prefer to see it up close first, but the lack of availability here in the Northeast (its just not cowboy country) prompted me to go the Amazon route and I couldn't be happier.
This is a very unique coat and like the hat, if you're in a region that isn't used to the whole country look, you will get some stares and confused faces, but once you get past that, you realize you're wearing something that is not only an awesome looking garment, but one that is weatherproof - I'd much rather wear this than a PCoat or rain coat - its just that cool.
Adding to the cool factor is its ruggedness. While not something one would wear as formal wear, its definitely going to be at home in my truck as an all purpose garment. I work in construction and can easily see this working on job sites in the rain and snow - its just that good.
I read a lot of complaints about the coat having a smell to it and there's a faint, almost leatherlike smell to it - personally, I dig it.
The pockets are generous and many and again, once you get used to the buttons, its a pretty weatherproof affair that you'll see the value in immediately.
I plan to probably buy another one as well as their shorter length coats.

Awesome coats

I love these coats! Finally replaced the one I've had for about 15 yrs! (it's still in good shape, but the lining has worn thin and keeps tearing). These coats are very well made, and durable. The only thing I wish was that they were a few inches shorter. This comes down to the middle of my shin, so it's long already, but I just prefer the look of it a little longer. The style is great, value is awesome and the look is a head turner. The fabric is nice and heavy, the snaps are tight, and it's water resistant. I use the duckback water proofing yearly, just to keep it nice and primed. The pockets are a nice size and they now have a zippered inside pocket (my old one just had a pocket), so that's a nice addition. The cape is removable, but I've never removed it as I think that's a great part of the style. If you're looking for heavy duty, durable, and useful in a coat, this would be it!
Great Duster.

It gets even better when you attach the hood (sold separately). Be aware that you have to install the snaps to attach the hood yourself. I brought mine to a local shoe repair shop that had the appropriate tools and they did a great job of installing the snaps for me.
Tough as nails.

I have two of these, on for my mountain place and one for my home. These are tough as nails, really great in rain and snow, and they are perfect for outdoors. Get the sherpa liner. It's worth it and converts this thing into a really comfortable and tough coat for temperatures down to 10 degrees. I wear mine most in the winter riding four wheelers through thick woods.
