Not up to Festool's standards

Save yourself some frustration and do not buy this guide for your Festool jigsaw. I purchased one recently and tried it out yesterday with extremely bad results. As another reviewer noted, you can't install the guide bar with the chip collector in place so dust collection will take a hit. This is a knock against Festool's generally high quality.

Next, there are no instructions or pictures of any sort shipped with the guide. Another knock against the circle cutting guide. As it turns out, the PS 300 manual does have a short section showing this item but you'd better read it carefully if you buy the guide.

I first installed the guide as shown in the photo on the Amazon page - the guide bar on "top" of the bracket at the end where you put the pivot pin. The PS300 owner's manual shows it installed the other way, with the guide bar on the bottom. In either case you must be pretty cautious that when you put the pivot pin into the end of the bracket that you do not bend the guide bar at all (that is, by pushing the pivot pin down too much). I tried both orientations and in both cases the results were horrible - the blade bent in towards the pivot immediately, resulting in a scorched blade, smoke and scorched workpiece, the deflected blade melted the splinter guard on the bottom of the saw and sparks flew (I believe from the blade contacting the blade guides of the saw). This also resulted in so much vibration that the thumbscrews (which I had tightened down carefully before starting) loosened a little and the saw began to creep down the guide bar, so my first cut turned into a spiral rather than a circle before I caught on to what was happening. I put in a brand new blade, flipped the guide over to match the illustration in the saw manual, made a test cut which was OK, went to make my production cut and immediately had the same problems again (bent blade, smoke and sparks).

Stopped, took the circle guide off, pulled out some new plywood and made the cuts freehand with no problems. Sent an email to Festool detailing my negative experience with this item; I'm out my time, two blades, a splinter guard and some decent plywood. I have other Festools and accessories and they've all performed excellently and have shown great design, this item appears to be an exception.

There must be a better circle cutting guide out there. Avoid this item at all costs.
Excellent tool

I bought this in hopes it would work on my B&D jig saw. It will but I have to re-work the base plate a little to make it happen. It is an excellent quality tool.
Works OK, but....

This attaches to the PS300 very firmly and like it was planned from the initial design of the product.

I was expecting typical Festool perfection in the cut, but I was a little disappointed that the jig stayed firmly planted, but the blade drifted from vertical on all my cuts (on 1/2" plywood). I tried different blades and oscillation settings. Thicker blades helped but did not cure the problem. This is not the fault of the jig.

There were no instructions in the box to give any blade/settings guidance or troubleshooting.

I ended up manually cutting the rest of the circles.

Would be fine for course construction cuts.
Great tool
