I ordered four of these for my baking supplies and rice. I love them so far! They are huge, air tight, and hold a lot of whatever you decide to put in them. They are also pleasing to the eye and look sharp on the counter. I also ordered 4 black stainless scoops for in them to match my appliances. I love it all!

Mice were getting into the rice in my pantry. I had bags of rice in a plastic storage bin, but the mice were still getting in and when I picked up a bag of rice it would rain rice all over the place through the holes they chewed. I have heard that rice is bad for birds--I would think it is bad for mice too.
I got very tired of the mess and finally decided if I could put the bags in a big covered glass jar that it would solve the problem. I found this beautiful 2.5 gallon jar and ordered it. It is perfect for bags of rice under five pounds. I use several different kinds of rice so I can't just pour the rice in a jar.
The jar arrived in one piece which I think is pretty amazing, but anchor hocking should know how to pack glass so I shouldn't have been amazed.
We do set traps for the mice, but they come back every winter to get out of the cold, raid the pantry, and annoy me.

My dog has two cups a day and this lasts her a month. The handle isnt very sturdy so i replaced and it does make a cling sound when opening because only one side of the lid has a rubber seal. I still like it i just wish it didnt do that

I looked all over to find a container to hold an entire box of laundry detergent and this is perfect! The 2.5 gallon jar holds slightly more than 143 oz (102 load) box of detergent. It has a wide mouth, so scooping doesn't result in spillage. The lid is snug but doesn't stick. I've included a picture of the underside to show the seal that keeps it tight. I wouldn't put anything in here that needed to be completely airtight, but I think the top would stay on even if the jar tipped over. The glass has a few imperfections - bubbles or places where it looks a little wonky, and the seam between the 2 halves shows a little - but it's sturdy enough that if I wanted to move the jar around I wouldn't worry about it's strength. Glad I found this so I don't have to keep the messy detergent box out on my new laundry counter. I definitely would recommend it for this purpose!
