I have been searching for a cookie jar and the 1.5 Gallon Montana Jar was a great choice! The picture included in my review shows the jar with almost 9 dozen cookies in it (cookies made with a standard sized cookie scoop) The jar seals nicely so my cookies stay fresher longer! Also looks great on my counter top! Plan to purchase more!

I really like these canisters. I took off one star each for two different problems, but I still purchased another one even though I was already aware of the first problem.

When the first two arrived they had a very bad chemical smell coming from the lids. After washing them and letting them air out for a couple of days the smell was still there. I took them apart and found a greasy residue on the underside of the metal. After washing the parts separately and letting them air out the smell was gone. Putting them back together isn't that hard but it does have to be done carefully to get the handle centered. I included a picture I took of the various parts while the lid was still apart.

The second problem is that they aren't as bug proof as I thought they were. I knew there is a small hole in the gasket but I didn't think it was big enough for anything to actually get through. I've had two of them on my kitchen counter for over six months filled with sugar and flour. This morning when I went in the kitchen I found small ants had gotten inside the canister even though the lid was on securely. I included a picture, though not a very good one.

These canisters are made of a nice, heavy glass and while the lids aren't perfect they really aren't that bad. I would still recommend these though I would make certain to mention the two problems discussed above.

I make tortillas de harina for my family quite often, so I decided to buy this big glass jar to store the flour. I wanted an air-tight glass container to preserve the freshness and keep the bugs out. I was very pleased with this jar, especially with the "swish" sound when one hears closing the air-tight lid...until I washed the lid. I washed it by hand, disassembling the inside parts, and when I put it back together, the air-tightness

was gone and I just ended up with a loose lid and a silicon seal that served no purpose. I looked in the Qs&As and researched the Internet for instructions on how to reassemble the lid, but I found nothing. After fidgeting with it for a while, I was ready to toss the whole thing when I noticed the grooves in the inside round "thingy" that holds the knob in place. They're sort of "tracks" that hold top he silicon gasket in place. I carefully placed the gasket inside these tracks, I placed the lid on the jar, and I felt and heard the "swish". Mission accomplished! So be careful when you wash the lid. Note how it's assembled BEFORE taking it apart. I'm attaching a photo in case others have the same predicament. Yes, it's a nice jar. It's worth the investment.

I purchased these jars for my laundry room makeover. Because it is located directly off the kitchen and we leave the door open so that the dogs can get to their food, it is important to me to have all of my products neatly displayed. The 96oz jars are the perfect size to store dryer sheets and scent crystals. The glass on the jars is fairly substantial, meaning they don't seem fragile if they get knocked or banged. The lids have a plastic gasket underneath that make them appear somewhat airtight. When I lift the lid there is definitely a suction sound.

I would definitely buy these jars again!
