Just What I Was Looking For
Kurt Smith✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 11, 2018
I gave it five stars because it was the exact fit for my collection - i was looking for a Case or Buck, or similar-quality in an extra-small pocket-knife-sized fix-blade hunter. It went on sale for a few days so i sprang for it. Great construction, the 'ring' handle seems very well made, smooth and dense; great balance; blade is thicker and heavier than it looks it's a Case. The sheath's adequate, and lately I've been wearing this thing around more and leaving the Buck 110 at home.
Very good knife by WR Case and Sons.

Ordered and received the Case Drop point hunter. The shipping was fast, and arrived undamaged. Upon opening, I noted that there were no flaws, or substandard assembly. Quite the opposite. The knife was highly polished and the sheath was well made. I've read some of the other reviews that said the sheath was cheap, but that was not the case here. Also, others have said that they thought the knife would break if used. If used within the bounds that it is intended, I have no doubt that it will last a lifetime. Also, this IS a full sized knife, not the mini. It measures a full 8 1/2 inches. I am extremely satisfied, and look forward to using this knife for deer season this year.

LITTLE SMALL FOR MY WANTS. BOUGHT MANY OF THESE AS I WAS GROWING UP BUT A LITTLE LONGER, KEPT THE KNIFE ON BELT AND IN BACK POCKET. MY MOM MUST HAVE THROWN THEM AWAY AS I WENT THRU SO MANY OF THEM GROWING UP. BOUGHT FOR REMEMBERENCES OF MY YOUTH. I AM NOW 82.
superior craftmanship

superior craftsmanship.after years of looking at this knife at my local knife shop i finally pulled the trigger on amazon.I am an avid hunter and outdoors man and i have many knives to use for there appropriate use.I have been looking at a knife for deer field dressing and skinning purposes and wanted a old traditional look, not a newer modern looking that has no nostalgia.this knife fills that bill and more.though i had used gut hooks many times and i feel they are the best tool for a clean dressing of a deer.this knife arrived razor sharp(as with the gut hook) and the stainless blade is flawless in looks and craftsmanship.the leather stacked handle is absolutely beautiful and has a real look and feel opposed to others brands of the same looking knife.i have looked at other knives that look very similar to this but after handling all i felt the case hunter had the "realest" look and best craftmanship...by far.the only issue i have with this knife is the prices for them at retail stores.i saved $32 buying this off amazon opposed to many other stores in my area. have i used it yet?nope but i have no doubts it will work and be effective...why?because i will use this knife for what its intended for.this knife is not a bush craft, hammer, firewood processor or pry tool...its a Skinner for large game.when i am done dressing and skinning i will clean off, dry, oil blade and then treat the stacked leather with leather conditioner.I see that this knife is often collected and stored in a display box which is equally cool as using it but i thrive on a "used" but taken care of knife just like my USA made old timers.as the stainless starts to tarnish from real use it tends to give the knife that nostalgic look that screams history. The sheath is average and will last a lifetime, but the more i look at it i wish it were a darker color with the "Case" name on it.outstanding looking knife with an average sheath id say.if you are looking for a great looking knife with a real feel that is usa made then this knife is defiantly a dis player.if your looking for a traditional looking large game Skinner, made for years of use, then this is a great option as well.don't hesitate to buy something when financially you can swing it.if not you will spend years and years wishing until you do it...then that void is now filled and you can sleep at night.
My dad had one almost exactly like this one when I was a little boy going ...

My dad had one almost exactly like this one when I was a little boy going on fishing trips with him.
It has lasted him decades, and I'm pretty sure it's still going.
I bought one because of the narrower width of the knife. I've got one fixed blade that has a thick and fairly wide blade. But more often than not, what I need is something a little thinner, to get into tighter spots, or carve curves, etc.
I couldn't believe it was so hard to find other kinds of this type of knife on amazon. So many are deep, skinner-style or survival-style knives. I needed something leaner, and I'm glad I found one. Plus, I get the quality of Case behind it.
Amazon first sent me one that had a bad handle grind on it that needed one of the handle corners rounded off some more. Amazon took care of the return quickly and without hassle, and now I have a good knife just two days later.
Sheath is real leather and seems of good quality.
