the screen is a screen but don't try to use it with a metal jar ring- after 4 days of sprouting it collects rust from the metal jar ring

These are great sprouting screens. They allow for proper drainage, unlike many of the plastic lids available. The only drag is the mason jar rings rusting.

Maybe it is the metal rings I have and since the jar is on it's side , but, these really need a plastic open ring so the rust doesn't creep onto the screen from the ring.
I couldn't get the rust off by washing so will have to hit it with the wire wheel.
