After 1 year, the tip/counter balance broke off. After two years, the handle broke off. The bowl is still going strong, but it's less convenient without any way to hold it without getting scalded. Looking for a better option. Would not buy this again.

Sturdy!. We use this for rinsing rice and it works quite well. It's not all that big so a large batch would require you to rinse in batches. Also, do not try to pour anything from a skillet into this our you will make a huge mess. The handle is sturdy and stiff and the mesh is fine but strong. Unlike some others that dent easily this one is sturdy enough that I have not had any issues with the mesh being too weak and mashable. The hook on the top is handy if you want to hang this up. It's dishwasher safe, at least from my experience. I have run it through several times and it's showing absolutely no signs of trouble. not even a single spot of rust or anything.

I've really been enjoying this! I bought it to rinse things like rice and quinoa and it's perfect for this person. The mesh is very fine but not too fine that water gets clogged. When we first started cooking with quinoa, I initially tried using my regular colander to rinse it and I lost a ton of quinoa of course. (It was early and I wasn't thinking.) I immediately looked for a fine, mesh version on Amazon and ordered this one. The quality is nice. I threw mine in the dishwasher with no issues. The handle is sturdy as well. Overall, great purchase.
Very nice, but holds about a quart -- not a gallon.

This is a really nice strainer, the mesh is very fine, and i'm sure it will last years. One of the reasons I chose it, though, was that it says in the description that it holds "up to a gallon of ingredients," despite the fact that that doesn't really make sense when you look at the dimensions. So I thought there must be some give in the mesh or something... well, there isn't. This strainer holds one quart of ingredients. I precook beans which i keep in 1-quart jars and I use this to strain them, and the contents JUST fit. The beans from a 1-quart jar come up to the bottom of the rim, so there isn't a lot of room to swirl them around or anything when I rinse them. Which isn't the end of the world... I can use a larger colander if i want to do that. But the claim that it holds up to a gallon should be taken out of the description, because it's not just a slight exaggeration, it's false.

This 8-in diameter sieve is sturdy and works well for rinsing and draining rice, pasta, beans, and veggies. I really like how the handle is easy and very comfortable to grip. The sieve sits well in a bowl - very stable. The rim is smooth and does not trap food so it's quite easy to clean. My poor, old sieve (which is not stainless steel) is now in the recycling bin. In retrospect, I wish I had purchased the set of 3 sieves instead. Will definitely buy the two other smaller sized ones if they are offered separately.
