Gorgeous Boots
Sheri Mcphail✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 11, 2023
I ordered these in a size 7 and they fit perfectly. A reading reviews I was doubtful, but they even have wiggle room. They are drop dead gorgeous! I highly recommend them!
Extremely comfy

Very good boots. I have been wearing them for months at work and no issue. I haven't slipped at work wearing these and I can stand for long periods of time.

I love these boots. The only problem I'm having with mine is on the right boot. The seam that goes across the top of your foot is a bit tight and rubs. They are new, so I'm hoping that it stretches out a bit there after the break-in period. Other than that they are comfortable.
Disappointing

Purchased these last October because I've been a loyal doc marten customer since the 80's never needing to replace my boots just wanting new ones adding to a collection of sizes. These tore? Right where the wide part of my foot resides now has ac and rides the side soul. Very disappointed in the life span of these for $200 lasting a year? Doc marten, you should replace these for a loyal customer!
Great boots, i love 'em to death

what more could you want?

So it's like 2.5 - 3 years later and these boots are still going strong. They are extremely comfortable now, i remember when i first got them, i was worried that maybe i got the wrong size because of how tight they were across the top of my feet, right at the spot where the tongue is sewed to the main body of the shoe. That tightness went away pretty quickly, i think "i broke them in" in about a week. Now theyre really, truely broken in (like i said, it's been years) and oh my lawd these shoes feel so soft and delicious, they just melt onto your feet like a pat of butter does on a stack of pancakes. lmfao. They truly are extremely comfortable now. Before they felt like boots but now, more like thick soft warm socks (with soles on the bottom, lol) that just caress your feet as you slide them inside.

Wear

Over time, some of the design has come off, but not very much, only around the toes where i frequently scuff them. Also, absolutely do not try to clean these with acetone ( pretty much nail polish remover) because while the shoe will be perfectly fine, the white paint splatter design will smudge and come off INSTANTLY (there's a little smudgy area on one of mine from where i learned that lesson the hard way).

Cleaning and Maintenence

I did find that it was pretty worthwhile to invest in a dr. martens shoe kit. I'm not sure what it's officially called but that's essentially what it is. It comes with wonder balsam (i think that's a brand thing that dr. martens made up but it seems to be some sort of hydrating wax) that can make shine like new dimes no matter how rough on them you are ( but really polishing them up takes time, elbow grease, and lots of layers of balsam, i usually just put on 2 layers but i'm sure 3 or 4 would be better). Anyway, the kit comes with 2 extra pairs of shoe laces that are the right length for this 10 eye boot (i'm on the 2nd pair of laces that came with them now). It also comes with a bright yellow cleaning/ polishing cloth and some other type of boot polish that i cant remember the name of at the moment. Anyway, the reason i went out of my way to recommend this kit for maintaining this particular pair of boots is that neither of the polishes that come with the kit are tinted. They all go on clear and bring the shine back to your leather and of course the last thing you would want to put on these is traditional black shoe polish because that would just cover up the amazing design on them and probably look a tad odd as well.

Motorcycle Duribility

I ride a motocycle year 'round and these shoes held up pretty well for that for about a year and a half of almost constant wear, at that point i began to notice that the tread was wearing down. Now dont get me wrong, there is PLENTY of tread left on those soles. you cant wear through the bottom of these like you can with a pair of converse, however, they just loose traction far too easily now for me to wear them as my main bike shoes anymore, especially in inclement weather. If there is the tiniest bit of moisture on the ground, when i put me feet down at stop lights and such, i'm slipping and losing my grip on the ground because the bottoms of the shoes have just become too smooth. i've never truly slipped and dropped the bike and everything (how embarrassing would that be!) but it's certainly worth mentioning that these dont last too long as motorcycle boots. I can (and do) still wear them (all the time) and if youre not a motorcyclist, i doubt you'll even be able to incur the amount of wear that mine have (they grind up against the pavement as i cruse to a stop and the left one has the same tell tale wear marks that all my left boots have that comes from the pressure and friction of my switching gears with that foot when i drive.
If youre just a seasonal rider then you'll get much more that a year and a half out of these, but i put mine though the wringer by riding every day, year round, in the rain, ice, and sun. lol, and on the snowy days i may not have been riding but i was still rocking these.

Overall Durability

I am much harder on my shoes than the average joe but i can say with certitude that these shoes will last me (and you) for years and years. After a while you'll begin to understand how doc martens got their reputation for being indestructible. Even with the harsh, snowy winters these have seen and the hot, dusty summers, and the wet and squishy springs, (and some other thing for fall) they still look incredible, the design is still totally in tact (save for the areas where i always scuff the toes and my little acetone accident). With a little balsam, my neglect ( i rarely clean, shine, or condition the leather. literally once in a blue moon) seems to just wipe away as the gorgeous black leather imbues the moisture and somehow manages to become even more supple then they were when i started. Also, this may seem like common sense, but i'll just thow it out there; just because theyre sturdy and leather doesnt mean theyre water-proof. trust me, theyre not water proof. Now dont get scared, water doesnt hurt them at all and you can certainly wear them on a rainy day and have them keep your feet warm and dry, but if there is a total deluge of water, if it's pooring from the sky in sheet, do yourself a favor and do not strap these boots on unless you like sloshing around with water logged feet. lol

Overall

At the end of the day, i stand bt my original review. These shoes rock. They look great, they feel great (the longer you've had them the better they feel. they age like fine wine. haha), theyre totally functional and they'll last you a long, long time. Totally worth the investment, and that's saying a lot coming from a cheapskate like yours truly. If youre on the fence just take the plunge and buy them. you'll regret nothing once theyre on your feet :)
