I needed a replacement for a Penzeys pepper mill that wasn't well made, and whose internal works kept falling apart so that it couldn't grind peppercorns. This pepper mill is well constructed and does a nice job grinding the peppercorns. And this set was less than half the price of the one from Penzeys. The holes in this salt shaker are too small to handle coarse or flaked sea salt, but it's perfect for traditional iodized table salt. The mill and the shaker feel very nice, and the set looks polished on the table. Very happy with this set!

I have had these for about 4 years. I am writing this review because there is a plastic piece inside the pepper mill which has failed after years of use. The pepper mill still works without this piece, but not quite as consistently.
The piece broke while I was grinding pepper into some chili. Who knows how much plastic ended up ground into the chili... hopefully it's non-toxic.

I had a gift card and was looking to replace my old, well used salt shaker and pepper mill. Saw this item and the reviews were pretty positive. LOVE the look of them. Be careful with the pepper grinder--you have to adjust the metal part on top to regular the size of the pepper that comes out when you grind. If you leave it too loose, the pepper coming out of the bottom will be very large pieces. A simple twist or two will adust to your needs. Salt comes out a bit faster than I'm used to, so just had to get used to it (not a problem). Highly recommend.

These have served us very well and go nicely in a darker toned, modern style kitchen. The finish is smith and uniform and resist dirt, scratches, smudges, etc very well. The pepper grinder is well made and the grinder is all metal construction, so it's effective and should last a long time.
My only complaint is that the salt shaker is just a container. We were looking for a set like this that was grinders for both salt and pepper, but it seems like that is less popular and the only sets like that are plastic or too simple or post-modern in appearance.

I purchased this item 2 1/2 yrs ago and although I am basically pleased with it I have to say I am somewhat unhappy with the grinder. At first I thought it was good buy, but as time went on I became unhappy with the erratic dispensing of pepper. As I turned the mechanism the pepper would come out in burst of a little then a lot and then the adjustment went from tight to loose. I found myself constantly changing the adjustment. I am not happy with this item.
