I like the look and feel of this Tilley hat, particularly the vented mesh sides. It fits perfectly--loosely--and has a large brim for sun protection. Also, I really wanted something that could withstand a strong wind and rain, which it seems to do. Although I haven't worn it much, and not in very hot weather, I think it will be perfect for an overseas trip that I'll be taking this summer.

it is an excellent hat....but of course wearing it constantly..the sweat build up on it..

This is a great hat, the second I've owned. It's very lightweight and retains its shape even after going through the washing machine. It does what I want it to do: provides sun protection for my head and face. My one complaint has nothing to do with the hat and everything to do with the sizing advice people have given here. I ordered a hat slightly smaller than what I ordinarily would have because so many people said the hats run large. They DON'T--at least, mine doesn't--and I haven't been able to stretch out the band, so I've been "grinning and bearing it" with a hat that fits just a little too snugly to be comfortable. Ignore the sizing advice here, folks, and get the size you think you need. I like the hat so much I'm going to drop the money on a replacement that actually fits.

This was a gift so I cannot actually review the item for my taste, however the person I purchased it for is very picky but they loved it. This has replaced the baseball cap and been worn non-stop with the exception of washing and dry time. (He hand washes and air dries.) He has had no complaints so this is a winner in our book.

Bought this hat for walking and kayaking on hot days (of which we've had too many lately in San Diego) The ventilation is excellent and the hat stays on without being tight. Riding in a powerboat last weekend I had to take it off as the wind would push the brim down over my eyes but I don't often ride in powerboats and in a kayak this is not a problem. Seems quite well made - I expect to have it for a long time.
