First let me say I already have the GV-1000 and I am very satisfied with that. The GV-2000 DLX is bigger and roomier but if you use the removable shelf room is very limited. If you need to access your handgun in a hurry there is little room for error. I removed the shelf altogether because of this issue. Therefore it was a waste of money for me to upgrade. The interior light is quite useless. When you open the door the light illuminates one small area the size of a silver dollar. Then the light goes out after a about 5 seconds. The light should stay on until the door is closed. Not a well thought out design. Also if you have the shelf installed the light will hit the shelf and not anything below. As far as the basic safe function I am vary happy with my 1000 (which I still have) and the 2000. If your buying for the light you will be diapointed.

It's awesome, it's small enough to fit in the bed side table and secure enough to keep out our 4 year old. He can't accidentally get into it, he tries to press the buttons. But you can set up any sort of combo to get in and ours is just difficult enough he can't get in at all. I did have to practice getting in quickly with the difficult combo

Great product. Great service. Safe is strong, stable and easy to set up. Inside light is nice. Door is fast (a little loud). Only real concern is insert shelf could be a tad stronger to hold just a bit more weight. I have it holding my Glock 19. A little concerned it might bow after time. Would still recommend this product.

Works great. Holds a full size .40 pistol, the IWB holster that holds it (which I never planned to keep in there but since it fits, it's nice to keep everything together in one place), a couple mags, and box of 40 rounds with ease. Could probably hold double that. Could have gone with the smaller one but I wasn't sure. I'll probably throw some other stuff in there anyway. If you're looking a single gun/mags/ammo only, the smaller one is fine if you're tight on mounting space. The interior light is weak but will be good enough if I ever have to scramble for it. Ergonomic layout/tactile buttons are a great idea and promote muscle memory that I can't imagine will ever fail you. Build quality seems good. Time will tell.

I have several of these spread around the house and the code programmed allows me to quickly gain access (in the 1 - 1.5 second range) to a selection of firearms. The code (which I set) is easily complex enough that I have a high degree of assurance that A) nobody is likely to randomly guess my code and B) kids won't be able to get it open. Because the personal code supports two buttons pressed simultaneously as part of the code the number of combinations is huge. That and it has a lockout feature if the code is entered wrong too many times.

It isn't going to stand up against a crow bar or a sledgehammer but that's not what its is designed to protect against.

My kid knows that touching the vault is forbidden and comes with consequences if they choose to disobey. But if they disobey when I'm not around I feel very good that they are not getting in.

Final assessment: This vault accomplishes two important objectives. 1) It keeps my firearms readily accessible in a tiny amount of time while 2) making it very unlikely that an unauthorized person is going to accidentally/easily get in.
