Good for what it is designed for
Alien Traveler MagazineJanuary 4, 2017
Just got this for my father-in-law because he is constantly hooking up his trailer after the sun goes down. I would have given this 5 stars but opted for 4 due to minor design flaws. The light connected flawlessly and really held in the slot of my 2016 F150. The light while bright is more of a spotlight instead of a flood light. The connection for the F150 is in the center of the truck so the light filled in-between the glow of the red brake lights. As I said, I would have preferred more of a flood but the light is very bright. The second minor problem is 1/2 light, 1/2- 2016 F150. The stem of the light is long enough that the glow from the light is caught by the backup camera on the F150. This creates a halo effect on the camera screen. While annoying, it would not deter me from buying another one. I just noticed that the price has doubled from my purchase of a week ago. With that being said, $20 is still a fair price.
Not bad for $10

Gave it 1 star since it fits really tight and when I went to take it out it broke free and the force caused the bulb to come out of the socket and become lose. How do I put the bulb back in snug? You'll get 5 stars when I'm able to access the bulb. Seems to be a seamed on clear cover. (The old style appeared to let you unscrew the clear cover to access the bulb.) *Figured out that you need screw driver to pray it apart.
Awesome value!

One of the most simple ways to install added backup, reverse, lighting. This works great and I keep it plugged in and set to reverse mode, makes hooking up to my boat easy at 4am with a rear view camera. The light is also great to provide additional warning for others when I am backing. I would recommend this especially for the cost.
I'm a big fan. Great price and works well. I would have given it five stars if it was LED

I'm a huge fan. It plugs right into your seven pin and provides lots of light to safely back up in all conditions. If you live in out in the sticks or go camping, it's a must have. And it works well with my backup camera. So much so that I ordered a second one so I wouldn't keep having to switch it back and forth between my Chevy Tahoe PPV (work) and my GMC 2500 HD Duramax (play). Plus, it's a great price. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that it's not LED. Still a huge fan though. Be safe.
Improves on backup lights dramatically.

I needed an additional backup light to augment my Nissan Frontier's back up lights that didn't provide enough light in a dark environment. Read the reviews and the price was great, so I ordered it. Arrived quickly, plugged it in to the towing electrical socket on the back of the truck and fit firmly. Tried it out and all I can say is "wow" what an improvement! It provides a bright light that projects 30 or 40 feet giving enough light to spot people and hazards. It sticks out a bit like a short "flashlight," but doesn't look bad and the projection puts it close to the edge of the bumper, which is good. The price was excellent in that the same or similar light is offered on a variety of sites at prices twice what this cost on Amazon.
