No review, just pictures of the finish on cheap ...

No review, just pictures of the finish on cheap framing lumber (2x6) so you can see the pattern. The coffee table has two coats and the small bench only has one. Both were sanded with 220 grit prior to staining and applied with a microfiber cloth. The color for this is dark walnut and applied in 40 degree weather in the Northeast, USA. Lastly, these photos were taken the next morning and did appear darker from when I stopped (approx 12 hours)
Hope this helps!

I combined this with the Minwax Fast Drying Satin finish Polyurethane (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VZLF58/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_12) for the perfect look.
Superb product. Absolutely love it!

This is definitely the best stain that I have ever used. Sand and apply on my wood furnitures and they really look great!
My first ever dollhouse!

I wanted to stain a vintage log cabin kit with this. I had read about a formula with vinegar, but it could expose the dolls to acid and damage them. I wanted something that would seal and protect the wood and be okay for the nice things that come in contact with the wood. It took a month to build the house. I used broken used sand belts to fashion my own roof. Next I am putting flashing around the chimney. The nice thing about the weathered look is it doesn't matter how many mistakes I made it looks even better. This stain also worked with a can of Dap wood putty I found that is over 20 yrs. old. I added acetone to the putty and it reconstituted the putty. The stain does not look glossy either. I would have not liked anything shiny. I made an india ink wash to antique the pine wood before I used the stain.
Beautiful Stain and Finish!

I spent a while hunting for the perfect stain color for a few items I was making for around the house. I wanted something darker than my hardwood floors, yet neutral, and without being so dark that it might possibly look out of place. To give you an idea, my floors are close to a what I would call a pecan colored stain, with my furniture being close to Minwax Provincial and kitchen cabinets close to Minwax Red Chestnut. Since I wanted to use this on items both in my living room and kitchen, it was important to me to find a shade that would work well with all the colors without matching any too closely.
I had narrowed it down to Jacobean, Dark Walnut and Special Walnut and decided fairly quick that Special Walnut would be too light for me, which left me down to the two that were hardest to pick between since they are somewhat similar. After googling photos for ages to get a better idea of what they look like in person, I decided that Dark Walnut had just a bit more of a golden or warm tone to it than I wanted, so ended up settling on Jacobean and am happy that I did! I worked perfectly with all the other tones in my home and looks absolutely lovely!
I definitely recommend using a light hand when applying or you may end up with a much darker color than desired. A little goes a long way, and while you can always build color and depth with additional coats, it is much harder to sand and start over if you go overboard ;P I ended up going with only one light coat and am thrilled with the results. The wood grain still shows through and is actually enhanced, which is exactly what I was hoping to achieve.
It applied easily and evenly using a synthetic bristle brush, and any drips were quickly wiped up with a cloth without issue. It was dry to touch in about 6 hours, and set fully within about 24-36 hours, though it was fairly cold out when I used it so your mileage may vary.
It was very well packaged and reached me safely, though it did take a bit longer than usual to arrive. It was exactly what I was hoping for and I absolutely would recommend Minwax Jacobean stain if you are looking for a beautiful medium dark neutral stain!
