I received my Chopsaw Hood and set it up in 5 minutes. The material of the hood is heavy duty, the frame on the other hand has room for improvement. When I installed it on my Makita LS1013FL Miter Saw the attachment pole fit is little sloppy (they do not sit in the stock accessory hole's of my Makita to snug). I think Fastcap needs to come up with a system for each individual Model Saw so that when you install it into the stock holes they offer additional fittings for that particular saw so it fits a little more snug. For the money that I paid I feel that is the least they can do, at least offer an Idea on how to rectify this issue. Now I have to figure out a way to modify it so it fits better in the stock holes. I could just wrap the ends with tape but for $125 I shouldn't have to. Other then that I like the product and it works as advertised, I still keep my saw hooked up to a vacuum though. I also like that it would protect the saw if and when I would be working outside when it rains.
Fit and Finish needs work

From a previous reviewer...
"The fit and finish of parts were substandard. If you are handy with a file you can fix it. The left bracket had a burr in it that did not allow the support arm to insert into bracket."
Guess what? I had to give the parts the same treatment. I filed the aluminum edges to get around the built-in burr inside one of the connectors. The factory did not get the message...
I bought this hood for a huge Hitachi-12 inch sliding miter saw. The location of the support rods when installed in the suggested saw holes, interfered with the operation of the saw, and I opted to attach it directly to the plywood supporting the saw, using my own bolts. I suggest you do the install with the hood closed using the velcro strap provided, otherwise it is like opening an umbrella in a wind.
Recap: bracket had a burr inside one of the connectors, and the top of one of the plastic knobs fell out and had to be glued.
I expect the hood will do what it was designed to do.

Reduces the spread of shop dust greatly

I used this hood in my workshop rather than in a work site. It does a great job of capturing the spread of dust from my Bosch sliding miter saw. It is rather bulky as you can see from its picture or from the setup video on YouTube, but it goes together easily and folds up into an easily transported hood if you do want to take it to a work site. The only issue I had with its setup is with the side-bar connectors to the saw. The supplied connectors can't be used with my Bosch saw as they would take the place of the hold-downs on the saw; in addition the bars are smaller than the hold-down holes so the hood is wobbly if used this way. I made wooden extensions for my miter saw table and attached the supplied alternative connector bases to those for a more secure and stable connection. Even with a vacuum attached to the saw, there is dust thrown out into the shop; this hood captures all of the extra dust and contains it within the hood. It is a simple matter to tap the hood and have the dust slip down the back of the hood into a box at its base.
