raising a house full of young boys meant we put in an extended size toilet years ago. the last seat we installed about two years ago. that one cost ten bucks more than this one. it looked good but the finish started coming off almost immediately leaving bare spots and making it look pretty bad. that's why i needed this one.

it comes with all you need to put it on. you will however need either pliers, a crescent wrench or wrench to tighten down the lid. that said install is a breeze. it helps if you have the lid fully raised during the installation process. ours lined up perfectly front and sides with the bowl.

with fit and finish there were no issues or problems whatsoever. the only minor issue was with one of the plastic 'nuts.' it was stripped out but as they act primarily as spacers it made no difference. i just pushed it up and then screwed the other plastic retainer on and was good to go.

the hinges are much nicer and better built than what we had before. they are thick, solid and look pretty good. the lid is weighted so it never slams down. if you just partly close it it will ever so slowly come down the rest of the way on its own. also with some you need extra bumpers to apply under the seat but not this one, it works well as designed. color is good, consistent throughout.

i am very happy with this purchase and expect it to hold up significantly longer than our last one did. i can recommend this lid without reservation.

I like that the seat because they have some weight to it (not some cheap plastic). Seat and lid both lower slowly.
The mounts and hardware are solid.

Last about 2.5 years. Was amazing at first...it felt very high end. Then at 2 years the paint wore off in multiple places making it look awful. Now it doesn't go all the way down on it's own. Stick with name brand.

So...

This whole saga started with a gift of a shower curtain, which was completely different than anything I had planned or done before....

I mentioned to an old friend that I was thinking about redoing my restroom, and she asked what I was up to, and I showed her some curtains that I was thinking about, and she sent me bold black and white plaid checked pattern.

As it was a Birthday present I could not give it back, and I worked with it, and ended up purchasing Pantera marble accessories to compliment it, but black marble, white fixtures, and black and white plaid need pop, and red is the best color for the pop, going back to the 20's and 50's, and 80's Nagel paintings ...

So I picked this up for some pop.

I really didn't expect much, but it was all metal, and though I cannot verify the wood under the enamel, it is beautifully finished.

The hinges are metal and chromed, the screw is chromed, and there are only two plastic attachment parts, and they attach securely, as opposed to the previous seat which was made of MDF, and the fix was attaching larger screws, which did not work, and more than a couple of guests failed at the toilet surfing test they had never expected...

I never knew I needed or wanted a soft close mechanism, but it works as advertised, and I love it...

I never knew I could hate and fear a toilet seat, until I had to live with one which was hate and fear inducing- and for the same reason, I love this thing...

My only complaint is that I hate giving free advertising, and there is a signature at the bottom of the lid, but I am willing to forgive it, because, frankly, this is awesome.

It does not shift at all, I have no worries about formaldehyde, or plastic deformation/shrinkage, and people having to surf the toilet seat to be able to do their business with screws popping out or plastic deforming...

I may take this thing with me when I move out.

Lasted 5 years. Black wears off making seat look rustic.
