This is a great toilet seat as toilet seats go! I's a 65 year old woman and I was able to have it attached and the old one off in about 15 minutes. Fits perfect!

The lid seemed like a good price to me. It turned out to be pretty easy to install, but I do consider myself to be a handy person. If you have never done any work on your house, maybe this would be a difficult install, but seriously, it was not difficult by my experience.

I did learn that there are either round bowl toilets or oval shaped bowl toilets. That is how you know which is the correct lid for your toilet: is it round or an oval bowl?

This is a soft close lid. I did not know I would care. As it turns out, I really like the soft close.

Be warned: if you install a soft close lid to your toilet at home, you may find yourself inadvertently letting the toilet lid slam close in other people's houses or in public rest rooms. You have been warned. : )

Pluses: The installation was easy and this is sturdier than the average plastic toilet seat, but not quite up to what I was expecting from something called a commercial heavy duty seat.

Minuses:
- These install using a bolt that is held in place with a two part nut. The bottom part of the nut is supposed to snap off when the bolt is sufficiently tight. Instead it cracked and collapsed in on itself so it would no longer turn with a crescent wrench. I was able to use another tool to finish turning it.

- The operation is a bit strange. The lid closes verrrrrry slowly, taking up to a minute to fully close. I appreciate that it does not slam, but I would like it to be closed before I flush and I'm not keen on waiting that long.

- On one of the two I purchased the lid is not centered on the seat so on one edge it hangs over the seat just a bit while exposing a sliver of the seat on the other side.

- The cleaning instructions say to use soapy water only and specifically advises against using spray cleaners. I'm sure this is something like "our lawyers made us say this". I can understand not using abrasive cleaners which would scratch the finish, but it's not practical for a product like a toilet seat that needs to be properly sanitized on a regular basis.

Top notch toilet seat. Sturdy and comfortable, with soft close cover. I tried 2 different ones and landed on this and glad I did. A little pricey but it could be the last one I will ever own!

This seat is almost as good as the elongated seat I bought from Bemis about 5 years ago. That seat is not slow-close, but the plastic material is thicker/heavier, and does not flex at all. This seat flexes at the front, primarily because manufacturer did not put any supporting "nubs" under the seat at that point. Saved an ounce of plastic & rubber. Aside from this nit-pick, an excellent seat, and I know from my experience with the earlier seat (uses same mounting system) these seats do not spontaneously loosen over time.
