Recieved a similar, but different product. It produced an unacceptable hum in the fan motor. It was the suggested controller per supplier of fan.
Extremely Loud Electrical Noise
Andrew Ryan•April 22, 2017
this controller causes my fan's operating noise to increase significantly; it starts to emit a loud electrical "hum"... like the hum of a florescent bulb, but deeper.
If you want a noiseless reduction of fan speed, you need a variable voltage transformer (variac), which allows you to seamlessly control the amplitude of the AC-current you're receiving from the power grid. I didn't know this until after I bought this unit. If you care about fan noise, skip this and just buy a variac.

Buyer Beware

Product does not work as advertised. It has no effect on fan speed.
I am very disappointed. It worked great while it lasted

I bought this controller with a Fantech 2SHE1221 fan in June of 2015. It is now August 2016 and this controller no longer varies speed. Effectively, it is an on/off switch. I am very disappointed. It worked great while it lasted, but it didn't last long enough. I expected much longer longevity.
WC 15 Speed Control REALLY SUCKS!
Vernon Kuehn•July 18, 2016
I purchased a Fantedh FR100 fan and the WC 15 Speed Control to use in a spoken-word recording studio where noise control, noise reduction is very demanding. I was in hopes that if the fan delivered a larger volume of air than necessary and if the velocity of the air coming out of the ductwork was making a "rushing" noise, the speed control could slow the fan and reduce the noise. Putting the WC 15 Speed Control in the circuit causes the FR100 to "GROWL". The mechanical noise produced by the fan jumps up 6 dB above the normal noise level of the running fan, and the new growling noise is at about 240 hertz which is ugly and disastrous in the recording process. From the labels on the box in which the Speed Control came, I could not tell if this was a genuine Fantech approved device or whether it is a generic device no produced or sanctioned by Fantec. I would not quickly find a phone number or internet contact for a support group at Fantech. I assumed that they expect their distribution partners to handle questions and issues like the ones I have.
