This very reasonable photocell light control is well worth the money. It has multiple settings and the dawn to dusk setting that I am using works great. It is easy to set as well. Once it is screwed in and loaded with a bulb the push of the setting buttons make the light flash a given number for a certain function. It is easy!
I used it outside.

This is labled for indoor use only, but I am using it on outside fixture that is under a canopy. It has been working great for 3 months now. Only issue is (probably because there is a canopy), the light remains on hours after sunrise. I do not use the timer because I want the light on all night.
Great product

I was hesitant if this would work in the setting I needed it too. I don't get much light where I put it but also didn't want the light on constantly . Seems to be working just like I hoped. Goes on at dusk off at dawn.
Works well as a dark activated light. Programming the timer melted my brain.

Our house has a side entry that's fairly covered and protected from the street. I wanted to keep the area lit at night for safety and ambience. I originally bought a white LED bulb with an integrated photo sensor which worked well, but even the 40 Watt version was pretty bright at night and I had concerns about the light attracting bugs. So the plan was to find a yellow version of the same light, but no yellow LED bulbs with sensor exist. Some of the reviews on this product had me concerned, but I figured I had nothing to lose, so I tried it out. I paired this with the TCP 40 Watt yellow bulb and even combined, they were not much taller than a standard bulb. It fit easily into my fully encased light housing and it was easy enough to point the sensor at the maximum light direction. I have had them for about 4 months now and they have turned on at dusk and off at dawn without any issues. The yellow light is perfect and not too bright.

Seems to work as advertised. I put these in 2 coach lights on the front of the house, on either side of the front entry. I programed them to run for 5 hours after dusk. I had to program them by feel by reaching up inside the light globe. No way I could see what I was doing up in there. Once I found the correct button to press, both sockets programmed successfully. It was near dark so I waited to see if they would come on. They did, but probably about 3 or 4 minutes apart. I didn't stick around to see them turn off, but they were off by morning so I guess that worked out good.
One thing I noticed is that it reposistions the bulb in the globe quite a bit. Mine barely fit the globe with the programmable socket and it looks kind of odd compared to what it was without them. These bases are not small and do extend the bulb from the socket by several inches. So, you might check to see if your bulbs with these bases will still fit in your lampshade or globe. Wish it were a bit shorter.
