Vegan sauce for Mac n Cheese and more

I am totally dairy free and found this for mac n cheese or to make nachos or a spicy one for the que con questo. I have made it twice now and the first time it was thick and creamy but the second time it was too thin even after boiling it for what seemed like forever to get it to thicken. I used a Table spoon plus a fourth of a Table spoon with 10 oz of hot water. Am I doing something wrong? It looked nothing like the label. I have told my son of it and he is totally Vegan I am just a wannabe, but lean towards it. So how do I cook this to look like the example on the package?
