the OEM handle works better. The securing strap is quite short
Gary D. Roy•December 12, 2017
They should have provided a lifting eye on the handle as most applications would use that for the lift, I don't expect many are carrying the motor by the lifting handle on the harness unless you are at least seven feet tall, the OEM handle works better. The securing strap is quite short! It does appear to be made well enough though.
Great harness for single handed operations.

Great for single handed operations of raising and lowering engine off boat. Allows me to keep one hand securely on the boat so i don't go overboard.
Two Stars

Doesn't stay on, even with the extra strap on a 5 hp Mercury. Needs to be re-thought.

As others have noted this really does not fit larger 4 stroke outboards (I have a Honda 15). Fortunately the straps used are pretty common/cheap at most HW stores, so I added another strap to the main loop (I needed about 1 foot more) and replaced the safety strap with one about 2 feet long. After these mods I got it to work fine on my 15 and it even worked on a 20 horse. Of course once I got it working, I realized I could actually have made a better harness for way less money by buying 3 straps of the right length, joining two of them on a PVC pipe at the top of the outboard and adding D-rings on each side to lift points for my winch. Of well - this helped me figure out the design.

Slides off the hood and handle is hard to grasp when straps are tight.
