Made in China but still good

I wish this was made elsewhere, but for the price and quality, it's hard to beat this value. This is a good reliable daily tool. Suggestion, peel off the made in China sticker and nobody will know.
Battery

The battery goes dead when you are not using it. It has a auto-off feature that does not work well so now I will need to remove the CR2032 battery when I am not using it.
Perfect for your museum?

The accuracy of these is fine. However there are scores of other calipers that are also accurate.
The digital display is too small and has poor contrast - reminds me of the first Casio digital watch I owned in the 1970's. Times have changed and an 8 mm digit size doesn't cut it anymore. The mushy buttons are nothing special - buttons with a positive tactile click are preferred these days. The resistance to sliding is quite high - not as easy as the newer competing units. Not a big deal maybe, but it imparts a low quality impression.
In summary, its like this product has not been updated in the past 40 years. There's no reason to buy these except possibly for museum curators who need to complete their "measuring instruments of the 1970's" collection.

It's a good value instrument

My caliper arrived in a broken case. I wrote the president of the company ( who includes his email address in the directions ), and he replied immediately and thoughtfully. It's a good value instrument.
Overall a decent caliper

Better than the Frankford Arsenal piece of junk I bought initially (that went back to Amazon) I would change two things: It should have an on / off button, it does have an on button but you have to rely on the auto-off feature to turn it off and at least mention that the rubber piece in the battery compartment needs to be removed prior to installing the battery, you can still install the battery with it in there, just doesn't work.
