My father and I each purchased a Logitech QuickCam so that we could have conversations between our homes in different parts of the country. The packaging was well-thought out, and the web cam was easy to remove from the packaging without unnecessary, glue, tape, scissors, etc. The quick setup guide was clear and easy to read. My father, who is in his 70s and is really NOT a computer person was able to follow the instructions the instructions for the physical setup. I used the LogMeIn service to remotely connect to his system and help him with the software installation. Everything went smoothly, and he was up and running in 15 minutes. I installed and set up Skype both of our systems. Using Skype with the Logitech QuickCam Communicate MP, the image quality was good across the Internet, especially if there is not rapid movement (e.g. hand-waving, crazy head bobbing, etc.). A DSL connection on one end and a cable-modem on the other end was good for conversational use. At full-resolution, the bandwidth required made the image quality a bit jerky with some degree fragmented video and some artifacts at the other end (again, slower movements are fine, but larger image changes impart more artifacts). Overall, for what we use it for, it is tough to beat -- the higher resolution gives us the options of taking some quick snapshots, and use of the "follow-my face" functionality. Also, my wife really appreciates having the built-in physical lens cover on the cam! For the price, ease of use, resolution, picture quality (how it looks at the other end depends more on your network and communications providers), and helpful features (such as the lens cover), I highly recommend this web cam!

While it's no doubt a great webcam, I really don't have an appreciation for the extra software fluff like color and distortion filters; fun for 5 mins. What I really wanted from this webcam was the ability to change the frame rate at which it captures, that option is not available. It would also be nice to adjust the area in which it zooms when doing face tracking. The face tracking seems a little too tight to me. Otherwise, good webcam. The privacy shade is nice. Breeze to set up. Works with Skype and MSN.

Iam confused by those who do not give this product a good review ! My exprience with it was a fast install ,easy set up and a very good picture and sound ! Perhaps the specs of your PC may have something to do with it . I had a Quick Cam the originila model on my previous PC a P3 750MHz and found some of the same behavior others ar complaining about wit their web cam . However I have this Quick Cam Communicate on my newer Dell XPS400 2.8GHz Dual Core 3GB DDR2 RAM and the product works great ! I also have the ATI's TV Wonder Elite and again that works like a charm. The only problem I have now is to convince all of those in my addess book to add the web cam to their PC so we can communicate via internet and see eachother . I have alot of family in the Chicago area and I live in the San Francisco Bay area !

It's easy to set up, user friendly, and works great with Google voice and video chats. I had to download Firefox as I had glitches trying to use Google chats with Explorer/Vista. With Firefox, it works beautifully. My only complaint, and the reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5, is that the video effects stall out. I didn't buy it for video effects, so really don't care. At this great price it does EVERYTHING I bought it for. You can even launch Google Mail with video calling from the convenient tool bar. My first call, a visit with my 5-month-old grandson, was worth more than the $42 I paid for the webcam. Now my 87-year-old father who's never used a computer wants one - and I believe he could handle it.

If you have Windows 10, this can be a difficult install. There is lots of help on the web, but you may have to go through a few of them to determine what it is that is stopping your camera from working. Now that the camera works, I am very happy with the quality. For such a tiny camera, it produces a great picture.
