I love pies, and I love to bake, but the delicate balance between making sure the pie is "done" and not burning the crust has always been a problem for me. A cooking show taught me a few years ago about the method of placing strips of foil around the edge of the pie plate to protect the crust from burning, but the strips would always shift and expose the crust to too much heat. I don't remember what led me to search for something different, but I stumbled upon pie crust covers and wondered where they had been my whole life. I selected this one over the silicone ones because it seemed more sturdy and easy to clean. But the true test was my Thanksgiving pecan pie. The cover kept my crust perfectly golden brown while the filling bubbled up in the oven, and I could not have been more relieved! I would make sure any baker in your life has one of these!

I was searching for a gift to put in my husbands stocking one year, several years ago. So I made him a note saying I would make him a pie a month for a year, but I didn't date it, so five years later he still expects a pie a month. This cute little pan is great it catches overflow from filling and is easy to clean, I just soak it for a few minutes and it is easy to clean

I generally like this product however the glass pie plate will slide on it. I wish this one had the rubber ring around the center hole to keep the pie plate in place like my previous one had. I would pay more for one with this safety hazard addressed.

This is a review of the pie shield (since I see numerous other products in these reviews). I learned pie making from my mother- and I love pies of all kinds. I bought the first one of these pie crust shields several years ago. I think it stuck a little the first time I used it but never since. I wash it by hand. I realize there are cheaper versions out there, but this is metal, not silicone , and the designs make it oddly beautiful for a simple baking tool. I used to cut foil into strips then fit that around the crust to prevent burned edges. Then I found this. My daughter was impressed, so I just ordered one for her.
